Prabal Gurung was represented at the Costume Institute Gala that celebrated the opening of the exhibition ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’ at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (September 13) in New York with seven attendees.
As we’ve seen during her promo tours, Gemma Chan will always celebrate Asian designers, so I was not surprised to see the British-Asian actress supporting the Nepalese-American designer at this event.
The beauty of them working together on this occasion was the look they created which celebrates the first Chinese-American Hollywood star, Anna May Wong.
Gemma’s black sequin mini dress which was emblazoned with a dragon motif and accented with a dramatic train just shows the amount of thought that went into this beautiful homage.
She even nailed the hairstyle.
I’m surprised that so many people were paying attention to Diane Kruger’s engagement ring, when she was glowing wearing this neon-green dress from Prabal Gurung.
Diane is always a sure bet to bring colour, and her unique style to this event.
This was not only a stand out in terms of colours, but also design too. I think even those of you who aren’t fans of cut-outs and high-low skirts, will appreciate this look.
Hot pink Jimmy Choo ‘Saede’ pumps – to match her eye make up – and the most beautiful TASAKI Iridescent earrings in white gold, sapphires, rubies, and garnet completed her look.
When it comes to this Atelier Prabal Gurung metallic silver draped dress featuring bra-cups connected with embroidered Swarovski crystal straps, Teyana Taylor has the perfect body to showcase this design.
But had anyone stepped on her train, she was going to be exposed, as the back dipped dangerously low.
I’m trying to calculate how one even sits in this piece without flashing everyone seated behind me.
But perhaps I shouldn’t be looking at this from a practical perspective.
Venus Williams was flashing red in this breath-taking Prabal Gurung strapless gown with a beautiful bow which helped form the lavish train.
Claire Danes’ Prabal Gurung dress was more interesting from the back for me.
A TASAKI Nacreous ear cuff and silver sandals completed her look.
Leslie Grace was pretty in pink Prabal Gurung. I love how the look was elevated from the runway.
Dominic Cooper reminds us that Prabal Gurung does menswear.
The British actor was hanging onto the last days of summer with this well-tailored yellow Spring 2022 suit.
I love that he wasn’t afraid to rock the blue silk top, and I’m glad he opted for white sneakers, as I would’ve actually cried if he had worn black shoes.
