Oscar de la Renta @ The 2021 Met Gala
Oscar de la Renta was represented at the Costume Institute Gala that celebrated the opening of the exhibition ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’ at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (September 13) in New York with an additional three attendees, who joined Anna Wintour and Billie Eilish.
Kiki Layne is one of my faves as you know.
She gave us high drama at the 2019 Met Gala, but this year it was all about classic elegance via modern techniques in Oscar de la Renta.
I love how this focuses on the power of feminine spirit while conveying artisanship through highly considered details.
The actress styled her look with KHIRY x De Beers diamonds which were ethically and sustainably sourced naturally from Botswana.
When it came to Rose Leslie’s Oscar de la Renta yellow tulle gown, I didn’t let the colour, or the style distract me from the fact that the dress is sitting way too low, and that she opted to wear tan sandals with this look which in my book was criminal.
The ivy vine embroidery which lined the corset bodice of Kaia Gerber’s Oscar de la Renta gown was not only absolutely beautiful, but the perfect homage to Bianca Jagger’s 1981 Dior Met Gala look.
