2021 BET Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

There were many men – grown men, Lil’ men and a few Baby’s – who took to the red carpet for the 2021 BET Awards on Sunday (June 27).

There was so much noise on the red carpet, so I was grateful for the quiet elegance of Giveon, who picked up the Best New Artist.

The singer wore a Chanel Resort 2021 jacket with a selection of Chanel Fine Jewelry and a Chanel ‘Première Rock’ watch.

He was my joint favourite at this event with Zendaya, and Lil Nas X’s Richard Quinn look.

You would expect me to love all the colourful looks on this red carpet, but I was also very much enamoured by Lonnie Chavis’ black Dior Men Pre-Fall 2021 suit featuring the now classic Oblique jacket.

I do wish his Dior Oblique B23 sneakers were also black, but this doesn’t throw me off loving this look.

David Yurman jewels provided the finishing touches.

Before opening the awards show Kirk Franklin rocked a custom pink Richfresh suit which was tailored to perfection.

Lil Baby gave us the rapper blueprint with the chains, bright Nike sneakers and distressed AMIRI Playboy jeans, to which he added a Casablanca silk bomber jacket

Mooski proved that smart suits at this event didn’t need to be black while rocking this tangy Michael Ferrera look. The white sneakers added to the freshness of the look on this occasion.

In terms of prints, no body was more vibrant than Fat Joe in Hermès Paris and DJ Khaled who has such a close relation with Dolce & Gabbana, that his graphic print Hawaiian shirt has his face emblazon on it.

Back to the rapper blueprint, right down to the AMIRI Playboy jeans, DaBaby made his bright yellow Prada Fall 2021 coat the focal point of his look.

You may remember that Leslie Odom Jr. wore this same coat to the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.

Michael K Williams always looks sharp on the red carpet, and this Dolce & Gabbana lurex thread three piece suit was no exception.

Takeoff, Quavo and Offset of the Migos all wore looks from the Bottega Veneta Pre-Fall 2021 collection which was harmonious for the shades of green and teal.

I would say Takeoff is my favourite here, as I’m not crazy about the zippers on Quavo’s trousers and Offset’s trousers are too long for my liking.

Bottega Veneta Pre-Fall 2021

As a collective, I much preferred the Migos’ Bottega Veneta Pre-Fall 2021 looks worn on stage while they performed.

I guess that’s just the magpie in me.
