Chris Lee 李宇春 Wore Mugler, Balenciaga, Marni, Balmain & Gucci On Sing China

Chris Lee 李宇春 has had a busy November between being a judge on Sing China (aka The Voice), and performances in celebration of the anniversary celebration of Grand Gateway 66 shopping mall.

I’ve never been a huge fan of sheer inserts in trousers, but as if by magic, I found myself drawn to this Mugler Spring 2021 look.

Aside from how cool this all feels, I love how the inserts add a new dimension to the humble white suit.

The blazer, looks like a cropped blazer and gives the singer a tiny waist, and the trousers look like they could be shorts worn with over-the-knee boots.

I may be looking at one outfit, but I’m imagining so much more.

For a performance, Chris Lee brought bold shoulders back into the spotlight.

After Balmain’s Spring 2021 collection, and seeing JLo wearing this collection, we have somehow put pointy shoulders and Balmain in the same bracket, but Balenciaga presented this look for Fall 2020.

The cable knit dress was inspired by the house founder’s affinity for structured tailoring.

It could be quite easy for someone as petite as Chris Lee to get lost in this look, but she has such a commanding stage presence, that this was yet another stellar look for the singer, and has me rethinking the whole pointy shoulder trend.

For another guest appearance on Sing China, she dialed down the avant garde looks for something more muted her standards.

Wearing a Marni distressed knitted sweater dress with gold lame Marni boots and a yellow turtleneck, the end result is laidback back, yet still edgy.

If you had said to me.

“Picture this.  An embellished bustier, vinyl trousers and a mint green summery jacket,” I wouldn’t have had the vision to picture how good it would look as total outfit, and may have said that you’re doing too much.

But this is how artists (stylists) create magic.

This Balmain Resort 2021 look might be my favourite of them all.

Balmain Resort 2021

For her performance at the anniversary celebration of Grand Gateway 66 shopping mall in Shanghai, China, she wore the brand we most closely associate her with: Gucci.

Her Resort 2021 took an ’70s-inspired direction starting with her oversized flower power blazer and ending with her GG jacquard flared trousers which imbue all the excitement of the era of disco.
