Solange Knowles’ Bikini-Inspired Look For Performance Space New York’s Spring Gala

On Saturday (May 4),  Solange Knowles hit the red carpet at Performance Space New York’s Spring Gala in New York City before hosting the event.

Some of us may be a little reluctant to shelve our winter gear just yet, but Solange looks ready for summer, or should I say the beach specifically.

The singer has given us many elaborate outfits – I’m expecting one tonight at the Met Gala – but she’s never given us one quite like this.

You may be surprised to learn that her bikini top and black lurex net skirt is a Salvatore Ferragamo custom-made look.

The brand is known for their tailoring, so it turns out that this look was a departure for both parties.

But did it work?

I don’t think it will be for everyone’s liking, but I have to say she looks great.

Was it part of a performance look? 

I’m not sure, but I love the styling with black leather gladiator F wedges and gold minaudière with an elaborate embroidered feather detail.
