Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge In Alexander McQueen - State Visit Of The King And Queen Of The Netherlands

On Tuesday (October 23), Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William joined the Queen, and various other royals at a state banquet to welcome the King and Queen of the Netherlands.

While the design of her sleeveless figure-fitting blue gown by her go-to designer, Alexander McQueen feels all-to-familiar, one can’t deny how fitting it is for the occasion, and how beautiful the Duchess looks in it.

Kate didn’t wear a sash, but she did wear a yellow badge, with a brooch featuring a portrait of the Queen.

The sashes and badges are known as ‘orders,’ and they are given from the Queen to relatives in the royal family as a reward for their service.

This yellow badge indicates that Kate has been given the Royal Family Order. It appears to be new, since she did not wear the badge at previous state engagements.

The look was styled with the Lover’s Knot tiara, a favourite of her late mother-in-law Princess Diana, plus teardrop pearl earrings, and Queen Alexandra’s wedding necklace.
