So-Now ‘Ugly’ Sneakers

The term, ugly sneakers are a new breed of fashion shoes, and as the name suggests, they are far from pretty.

A fashion frankenstein if you will, which falls somewhere between 90s sneaker, Crocs, hiking boot, aqua sock, noughties Reebok EasyTones and Skechers Shape-Ups, those towering platforms worn by the Spice Girls and footwear from some imagined future.

Street-style stars has been opting for Acne Studios’ ‘Manhattan’ or Gucci’s ‘Rhyton’ this fashion month.

Will you be indulging in this trend this Fall season?

I’m confused – if you acknowledge they’re ugly to the point they’ve been named ugly sneakers then why exactly would anyone wear them? This is why “fashion people” come off as silly and pretentious.
