Get The Look: Rita Ora’s Poppy Bronzed Met Gala Beauty Look

Rita Ora dazzled in a dramatic adorned Prada noir gown at this Monday’s Met Gala, though it was the poppy embellished design of the gown which served asthe inspiration for her beauty look.

Makeup artist Kathy Jeung wanted the makeup to complement her ensemble and look just as bright with bold tones like fuchsia and bronze with holographic finishes.

The final makeup look was structured and brightly colored with a soft romantic appearance. Using Pat McGrath Labs versatile collection, here’s how she created this look:

SKIN: Prior to makeup, Kathy really wanted to treat Rita’s skin, providing it with amply moisture and ensure a radiant and youthful base. She used an array of Valmont skincare products to prep Rita’s skin. To exfoliate the skin, Kathy used the Valmont Clarifying pack, she then masked the skin with the Valmont Energy Prime Renewing Pack, to de-stress the skin and inject some radiance while ridding any signs of fatigue. She moisturized the delicate under eye and lip area with Valmont Prime Contour. For an extra boost to the skin, Kathy also used the ultimate skincare product, Biologique Lotion P50 1970.

CONTOUR/HIGHLIGHT: Once the skin was prepped, primed and set, Kathy contoured and highlighted her flawless complexion. To define her cheeks, Kathy blended ‘Gold Rush & Gilt Trip’ (bronze shades) from the Pat McGrath Labs MTHRSHP Sublime Bronze Ambition Palette onto the hollows of Rita’s cheeks. For stunning warmth and a bronze finish, Kathy used the same shades and dusted it along the temples, along the hairline and under the chin. Once the skin was bronzed, Kathy added lustrous radiance along Rita’s cheekbones using the MOTHERSHIP III: Subversive Eye Palette. To complement the stunning shades on Rita’s dress, she used the ‘VR Pink’ shade to the tops of Rita’s cheekbones, softly blending and diffusing outwards.

EYES: For that glamorous almost opalescent bronze smoky eye, Kathy used the Pat McGrath Labs MTHRSHP Sublime Bronze Ambition Palette. Blending all the bronze shades from the palette helped her created a subtle and elegant colored eye look. For an eye-opening touch, she applied ‘SkinshowFever’ from the MOTHERSHIP III: Subversive Eye Palette in the inner corner or her eyes (tear ducts). To further enhance the eye makeup and create a more uniform look, Kathy used her finger and applied ‘VR Pink’, the same product used to highlight the upper cheekbones, onto the center of her eyelids. Finally, to define the romantic bronzed eye makeup, Kathy lined Rita’s eyes with Pat McGrath Permagel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil in Blitz Brown.

LIPS: To create that poppy fuchsia lip, Kathy opted to use a lasting matte product. She evenly applied Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Lip Color in Heartbeatto Rita’s full lips.
