Saoirse Ronan In Calvin Klein by Appointment – 2018 Oscars

‘Lady Bird’ star Saiorse Ronan debuted a new ’do at the 2018 Oscars on Sunday (March 4) in Hollywood, California.

Pretty in pink, she wore a darling Calvin Klein by Appointment strapless gown styled with matching Christian Louboutin pumps along with a Jimmy Choo clutch and Cartier jewels.

This would simply be a sheath dress were it not for the oversized bow and long train at the back to make it Oscar-worthy.

As for that sleek bob, it was a very suiting way to added a modern edge to the girly charm of the look.

I did wonder at times if the strapless bodice wasn’t about to slip right down.

I was going to say something about totally sweet, a bit dull, played very safe, but actually if I think of the “Pink at the Oscars” original sin that was Gwyneth Paltrow, I’d have this any day: it’s a tricky colour to pull off but she does so, cool calm collected. Won’t stand a chance against her fierce GG look, but this is very well played.

This reminded me very much of the Rosie Assoulin dress, Cynthia Nixon wore at the 2017 Tony Awards.
Although I love the colour and her beauty look something keeps me from loving this.
Is it the bodice which sits too low? Is it her dark hair roots? I really can’t put my finger on it…

Hmm, I wondered if this was some kind of reference to Gwyneth Paltrow’s pink gown and meant to be a good luck charm. It’s not the best I’ve ever seen her look, but it is in keeping with her overall style and I liked it. The darts are unfortunate, but otherwise a lovely, sleek look.

I thinks she looks lovely. It’s age appropriate and i like the color on her

    Love it from the back
    Like it from the side
    Hate it from the front

I appreciate what they were trying to do but sadly a no. The main issues for me is the fit and the colour.

I think I agree with everything.

It makes you wonder what was going on inside Raf simons head when designing this….

The darts on the bodice were nightmarish! She is fantastic and a bright jewel hue on her would have been more appropriate than this re-do of the Gwyneth Paltrow Shakespeare in Love mess.

What a disappointment, especially because she looked so amazing in that green sequined Calvin Klein a few years back. This time – the fabric, color, & matching shoes(!!) scream bridesmaid; the design is sloppy.

      XD hahahaha

Dull color and dull , dated design and cheap looking material plus poor fit = a fail.

  11. Pheephee March 5, 2018 at 2:50 am #

This seems very homemade. Not like Calvin Klein anyway. the styling is also flat.

CK has been responsible for two of the most disappointing Oscar looks in two years – Naomie Harris, and now Saoirse.

    • EmmaWoodhouse March 5, 2018 at 5:05 am #

      +1 This is really bad.

    • Alina March 5, 2018 at 6:29 am #

Yes! I knew this reminded me of another look.

To be one of the biggest nominees of the night and wear this… plain sad.

  13. kelly March 5, 2018 at 2:46 am #

i love it. it seems like exactly her style.

  14. Jerusa March 5, 2018 at 2:45 am #

Major letdown! She’s had such an amazing start this year and wear this to the Oscars? 😑❌🚫

feminine, lovely and quirky but a little underwhelming –

I’m going against the crowd to declare my love for this. I find it refreshing.

  17. Mimi March 5, 2018 at 2:34 am #

I really like this. I love a good bow

  18. Amanda F March 5, 2018 at 2:31 am #

I was sadly disappointed by this gown. Although the colour is lovely it feels too understated and wishy-washy for a best actress nominee and a very deserving one at that. I just don’t fee that this does anything for her.

  19. Nat39 March 5, 2018 at 2:31 am #

A big miss h2t – dated, cheap-looking, prom-y gown with distracting wrinkles, plus matching shoes bridesmaid-y style and stiff helmet-y hair. It’s “fire your stylist” look.

  20. TeaAtTwo March 5, 2018 at 2:26 am #

I was hoping for something more edgy but she looks nice though the hairstyle in that length looks a tad awkward.

  21. Lina March 5, 2018 at 2:26 am #

out of ALL the dresses in the world? she chose this? so disappointing

I love the dress, but it could have done with a blinged out necklace or choker (no earrings). The makeup doesn’t give that beautiful face any definition and the regrowth should have been addressed.

    for the emmys-yes
    for the tonys-yes
    for the oscars-NO

  25. fromchi-town March 5, 2018 at 2:17 am #

Total disappointment. I had high hopes for her after that stunning green gown she gave us at one of the previous Oscars. This is underwhelming and not worthy of a best actress nominee.

“I did wonder at times if the strapless bodice wasn’t about to slip right down.” – me too.
