90th Annual Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon Red Carpet Roundup

The 90th Annual Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon on Monday (February 5) in Beverly Hills, California saw more stars in attendance along with Saoirse Ronan, Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie.

Laurie Metcalf: While many attendees opted for shorter frocks, Laurie went for a long Temperley London gown that featured a striking metallic pattern. Yet, it was geared more to an evening red carpet. Pierre Hardy ‘Blondie’ sandals completed her look.

Allison Janney: I like the rich, inky colour of this Georges Chakra Couture Fall 2017 dress. It’s the illusion neckline and side cutouts that offer a less modern element.

Sally Hawkins: I think the extra-roomy proportions of this dotted Rosie Assoulin Spring 2018 ensemble created more of a loungewear vibe than was likely intended.

Laura Dern: With this Stella McCartney look, I like how the leather-look skirt added a bit of edge to the blazer and blouse.

Mary J Blige: A study in creamy white, she wore a Tom Ford linen corset shirt dress with epaulette detail. It was a sleeker offering, thanks to the monochromatic palette. But, I still found it to translate as a bit dated.

I really like Laurie’s…another bold choice! And her hair looks great.

Laurie, Laura and Allison can potentially be saved but not by much

I am surprised not to see Frances Mcdormand attending these events. It looks like she has decided against doing the oscar dance…

Love Laurie’s dress and I so want her to win. She’s a great actress. I’ve seen her on and off Broadway and she’s fantastic. I like Laura Dern’s look even though it’s kind of “officey”. If only Mary J. had not worn those hideous boots….

    All bad choices.

Even though I don’t like the print but I think Laurie Metcalf is my favorite out of all the ladies here

    Laurie from the bunch.

I think Laurie Metcalf is really bringing it this awards season.

I suppose Id go with Allison. Best of the bunch although uninspired by all.

Overdressed, okay, way too big (Sally Hawkins must be really tiny because a lot of things she wears look too big or poorly altered), welcome to Dullsville, and dated.

Not much to love in this round-up unfortunately. Laura Dern’s look skews perilously close to officewear while Mary J Blige manages to make even white look weighty and overwrought. If I had to pick a favourite, I would probably go with Laurie Metcalf.

i totally agree with all your comments.

Laurie’s would have been great if they had just shortened it to tea length.
