Rose Byrne In Oscar de la Renta – 2018 G’Day USA Los Angeles Black Tie Gala

With something of a princess moment of her own, Rose Byrne was at the 2018 G’Day USA Los Angeles Black Tie Gala on Saturday (January 27) in LA.

There was a distinct balletic quality to this Oscar de la Renta Spring 2018 tulle frock that twinkled with the smattering of embellishment.

I love the shortened, tea-length silhouette on Rose—and how she made no apologies for its more precious appeal in her decorative Sophia Webster heels.

Aside from those shoes, the styling was wisely kept to a minimum with just a few David Yurman jewels and a Roger Vivier clutch.

I won’t deny that the illusion neckline didn’t give me a moment’s pause, as I wished for it to be a bit more transparent.

But, the lovely charm of the look ultimately won out.

I think part of the problem with this look is that she is standing infront of a black background which makes it difficult to see the dress properly – especially around the waist. I don’t mind this but I hate the illusion neckline.

Interesting point but I think the way she is holding her arms highlights the lack of waist definition and the dress is not really getting lost in the background. .

It makes it look like she has no waist. The proportions are pretty bad.

I adore this, I think she pulled it off.

something is off; the skirt looks too big. I don’t like the shoes, too obvious

    She can do way better

Nooo! This should have worked. Why isn’t it?!

I think this would have been perfect with one of Rose’s glamorous updos (see https://www.redcarpet-fashionawards.com/2013/01/13/rose-byrne-in-diane-von-furstenberg-2013-gday-usa-los-angeles-black-tie-gala/ ), some colour on her lips and just… the whole dress should have sit higher.

The proportions of this dress are a little off on Rose. Neckline too low and wide, hem too long.

+1, proportions are all wrong for her — torso looks too long and there is no waist definition in a style that needs it.

Agreed…it had the potential to be good but ends up looking a little odd.

    Two twee for her

    • Christine January 28, 2018 at 5:21 pm #

*Too. I don’t buy this at all on her

my instant thought as well – too sugary for her, esp. in combination with those bows on her shoes (a step too far)
