Marion Cotillard In Jean Paul Gaultier Couture – ‘Ismael’s Ghosts’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Posted by Rachel Watkins

Marion Cotillard was also on the red carpet for the opening ceremony and premiere of ‘Ismael’s Ghosts (Les Fantomes d’Ismael)’ at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday (May 17).

With a relaxed sense of seductive allure, she was dressed in a Jean Paul Gaultier Couture gown styled with Giuseppe Zanotti heels and Chopard jewels.

The juxtaposition between the menswear-inspired pinstripes and the sultry, sculpted bodice with corset detailing was what made this ensemble so intriguing, with her loose waves and subtle makeup adding a romantic outlook.

I get the idea of this JPG couture piece, but her barely-there makeup seems so wrong for this dress.she looked tired to me.
A fierce makeup would’ve saved the situation.

Marion looks so much better and more elegant if she’s not wearing Dior!! Wondering if she’ll get back to wearing Dior during Cannes.

I love the shape, makes MC looks taller, but I don’t know why, she seems to be very uncomfortable wearing that dress.

I wish she opted for a fiercer makeup and hair with this JPG.

No no no no and no.

Its okay? I like the bodice part. Its interesting. The bottom part is a bit blah…..but I agree with the others that she needed to commit to the edgier style. The styling is so lackluster

I saw a different angle of this dress on People, and I really liked it after seeing it straight on. I do agree that the hair and makeup don’t seem to fit the dress.

I always love the combination of Marion with JPG, this is no exception.

It isn’t a WOW look but I still prefer this 1000 times to any princess puffy dress. However, the hair style could have been improved in a more manish manner, in a Helmut Newton kind of woman, more glamourous.

This feels a bit lacklustre but she’s beautiful.

YES! Such a different look from anything we will see at Cannes… She rocks it!

The gown is nothing grand or exciting, but it’s interesting, I just don’t think her styling lives up to the edge, she just looks soft and feminine. A more complimentary sexy black sandal and a bit stronger makeup would’ve added more impact.

I want to like this so much, because it’s not Dior but I find this so boring. It’s not edgy or simple … I don’t like it

    Not bad, not wow.

I had a feeling she wouldn’t wear Dior. It feels like it has been so long since her last Dior look and she’s had like 14 non-Dior looks in a row, so I thought, she’s probably over Dior as well by now.
But to be honest, I’m pretty underwhelmed by this offering. Her hair and make-up feel a bit lackluster. If she would look more commited to rocking this edgier look, then maybe I’d like it more.
