Pharrell Williams & Helen Lasichanh In Comme des Garçons – 2017 Met Gala

Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh took to the red carpet together at 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1) in New York City.

While they both wore looks from the Comme des Garçons Fall 2017 collection, the two ensembles couldn’t have been more different.

Pharrell didn’t let his co-chair status cramp his laid-back style choices for the night, pairing tattered denim with a flannel shirt and a studded leather moto jacket.

As for Helen, that intense Kawakubo red came out to play again in this puffy variation on a jumpsuit. I can almost hear an Oompa-Loompa calling—he wants his outfit back.

Well that is truly hideous but she’s certainly on theme. Must have been hell to wear all night.

Well this is actually what the theme was about. I didn’t like the theme therefore I despise this but this is what it was about.

Laugh and make fun of Helen all you want.

At least she went with the theme. After all, this is a COSTUME gala.

That’s the point. She pulled it off with ease.

I agree. And think of Helen’s commitment- she had to not have movement in her arms the WHOLE NIGHT.

ITA. I have to applaud her commitment. This was the theme and that was the point of the Met Gala.

    A man and his couch.

She illustrates why I am not penalizing anyone for going off theme. Kudos for going there but Oompa Loompa is the perfect description.

Love it on her and for this occasion. And after all, is this not the point.

I love this because you always need to laugh. She can’t be taking herself seriously so I like it. If you can’t wear something this crazy to the Met Gala CDG themed event, where can you wear it. And the answer can’t be nowhere.

    Kudos for the courage.

She actually nailed the theme. Kudos to her for that, although it seems impossible to pull off that piece without looking comical.

Sometimes the ‘super artsy serious’ vibe CDG gives off makes me giggle. Like you no what would be sooo high end: no arms. BAM artsy.

Congrats on the sleeping bag, if the party goes late, Helen is covered.

    • Schoolbea May 2, 2017 at 18:50 #

Hahaha! “BAM artsy”, you’re so right!

I once made myself a carnival costume out of foam when I was 9 and it looked very much like this.

I’m sorry but I see a line between Rihanna’s CDG and this. This is just a piece that should have stayed on the runway. Or on paper.

  11. Pheephee May 2, 2017 at 04:21 #

Another one!!!!! I shouldnt be surprised that Helen and Rihanna are the ones that had the guts to wear CDG. Well its on point….I think I prefer Rihannas but this is on theme also soooo it gets my blessing lol.

  12. Vallath May 2, 2017 at 04:18 #

Good they went for the theme. No one is going to wear that anywhere else.

    • Alex May 2, 2017 at 05:47 #

      Well played!!! On theme. ?❤️

  13. Tenacious May 2, 2017 at 04:17 #

She should’ve left that look on the runway…
