Sienna Miller In Valentino Couture – ‘The Sea Of Trees’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Sienna Miller In Valentino Couture – ‘The Sea Of Trees’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere
Sienna Miller was also among the star-studded list at the premiere of ‘The Sea of Trees’ at the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival on Saturday (May 16) in Cannes, France.

Apparently hearing our pleas for colour, the British actress fully obliged in a Valentino Spring 2015 Couture gown.

I didn’t love the circus-like patchwork design of the dress on the runway, and that hasn’t changed seeing it on Sienna.

While I appreciate her attempt at a more playful, whimsical spirit, I have a feeling this look will be remembered rather unfavourably.

One of the most apparent issues is the distracting nude underlining that doesn’t translate well underneath the sheer blue chiffon.

Sienna truly deserves her Worst Dress of the Event poll. And it will be a hard one to pick.

Hasn’t Shailene Woodley worn this before? I distinctly recall it, on this very blog, yet can’t seem to find a single picture.

Is it just me or does someone else gets a circus vibe from this dress? I look at it and think it would be a great stage dress for Pink to sing a ballad or whatever. Not good for the red carpet, not good for Sienna Miller.

What an ugly dress. Sienna looks like she walked into two kites and is now tangled up.

  5. alvaro_spain May 17, 2015 at 09:16 #

No. And the hair is a mess.

  6. naama May 17, 2015 at 06:16 #

It’s not circus patterned, it’s inspired by painter Joan Miró. I think it gorgeous.

Inspired by Joan Miró? Really? I’m Spanish too. I will look for that.

Oh, this is bad… Loved her in Balenciaga and Lanvin. This is a mess.

  8. Christine May 17, 2015 at 04:44 #

This is fug. Not a good look at all.

  9. bfly May 17, 2015 at 04:26 #

Two steps forward in her Lanvin the other day, and three steps back in this. Ughh.

  10. Dhppy May 17, 2015 at 03:47 #

On the one hand, I hate this. On the other, kudos to her for bringing something new to the carpet.

Of all the Valentino gowns she chose THIS one? I honestly didn’t think anyone would dare wear this one to a big event let alone Cannes. I had much higher hopes for Sienna.

  12. Valissa May 17, 2015 at 00:36 #

Of all the Valentino gowns in that collection, she chose this one? It’s so unflattering and unattractive. Her worst look at Cannes so far!

  13. EmmaWoodhouse May 17, 2015 at 00:04 #

I am so done with sheer gowns and here’s why. They need to be lined, and they look terrible lined. Don’t know why we can’t just make the whole dress! Also, the kite motif makes it too casual for Cannes. It’s just not really working.

  14. jhh36 May 16, 2015 at 23:27 #

I am over sheer gowns but with this one, the look would have been so much better without the lining. I like the top but the print on the lower portion is just too much.

  15. justme May 16, 2015 at 23:05 #

The dress is very ugly imo.

  16. Phoenix May 16, 2015 at 23:04 #

It suits her vibe. Sadly its at the wrong event.

  17. Noemi May 16, 2015 at 22:50 #

I find this dress really ugly, it looks like it has a big patch on the skirt. With all the beautiful Valentino dresses why this one?!?

  18. firien May 16, 2015 at 22:43 #

ohmy. Looks like she dressed in Buddhist prayer flags.

I’m not sure this look would’ve stood its ground anywhere, but in Cannes it’s even more hurtful.

  19. Charmeleon May 16, 2015 at 22:42 #

It looks good on the model but it falls flat on Sienna

  20. shontay May 16, 2015 at 22:39 #

I like the idea of it, but the execution is really poor.

  21. Larissa May 16, 2015 at 22:36 #

Oh God…I’m sorry but this has to be one of the ugliest Valentino dresses I’ve ever seen and it’s definitely not a good choice for Cannes. Maybe I can imagine this an interesting choice at the Indipendent Spirit Awards, but not here.

This dress is a huge mess !
    So cheap and unflaterring.

  23. Yeliz May 16, 2015 at 22:26 #

Oh no, this is really bad. It might suit to her personal style, but this gown isn’t Cannes red carpet material.

    • vicky May 16, 2015 at 22:32 #

Agreed, however, I prefer the dress with Sienna’s underlining than the original look….sooooo tired of see through/sheer dresses/gowns!!

      • sophie May 16, 2015 at 22:40 #

I agree Yeliz. This gown is great for Sienna or Shailene Woodley but with the runway sheer skirt (wearing nude bra and panties of course). Not big and glamourous enough for Cannes.

The gown was intended to be worn sheer, so it should especially be worn sheer, not just for aesthetic reasons. It needed to be sheer but with proper, classy nude panties so as not to be tacky.

If done right, sheer is ethereal and classy.

I actually love this look and I can’t really explain why. Sienna looks beautiful and like she is having fun in it

  25. chandrew May 16, 2015 at 22:24 #

I think I’m slowly warming up to this. If anyone could pull this off, it would be Sienna.

    • Chris May 17, 2015 at 10:58 #

I agree that she is the one of the very few who could pull this off, but a) it looks like a kite, b) did Valentino really make THIS?
