Natalie Portman In Christian Dior Couture - 'A Tale Of Love And Darkness' Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Natalie Portman attended the ‘A Tale of Love and Darkness’ premiere at the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France on Saturday (May 16), which marked her feature directorial debut.

Picking up where her sleekly modern Cannes opening ceremony look left off, the actress-director’s latest entrance continues in the same stunningly chic vein of form.

Again proving that she and Dior can be a perfect match, she impressed in a Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture gown that had all the refined glamour we’d anticipate mixed with the modern edge of the graphic blurred floral motif.

Her styling was on point, too, melding sparkling diamond earrings with the youthful essence of a simple ponytail and the flick of midnight-blue eyeliner.

This look likewise falls within the category of one of her best that we’ve seen in some time.

Why does she suddenly look so old?

  2. Guest April 14, 2019 at 10:13 pm #

Black bustier + full printed skirt = nothing that we haven’t seen before from Raf at Dior. This is just the same old thing in its hundredth iteration. Next.

Did anyone else notice Natalie & her husband in the background of the Runway photo? She’s obviously had her eye on this dress from the start! I think she looks gorgeous by the way. Simple elegance.

Hats off to Natalie, she made it… not work but okay.

    I agree with you.

A lovely look for her, but her shoes are a tad heavy.

Dior slowly getting traction at Cannes, love it!

This doesn’t work for me. Think it’s better than a lot of what Dior puts out there, but it’s just not right, especially with those shoes!

  12. Guest April 14, 2019 at 10:13 pm #

Its quite pretty, minus the shoes. I like the color.

  13. Guest April 14, 2019 at 10:13 pm #

See J-Law?!!? This is how you take advantage of Dior!! one more proof that she definitely has to fire her stylist! It’s not a good match!

  14. Guest April 14, 2019 at 10:13 pm #

It’s very pretty and pleasant on her. I always thought she did well with adventurous styles, so this classic route she’s been on for a while is a change. But it’s working here!

  15. Guest April 14, 2019 at 10:13 pm #

she is in the model pictures (in the back) just like Angelababy (i think) LOL

I’m with those who are bored and think that the shoes are a bit heavy. The dress fits her well and she does look lovely but there is no Cannes magic and flair here, we’ve seen this type of look enough during the regular season.

  17. Guest April 14, 2019 at 10:13 pm #

Natalie looks absolute stunning! I believe this Dior looks goes down as one of her best Dior looks of all time. Her skin is glowing and her earrings are absolutely gorgeous. Don’t like the shoes, but they are tolerable. The fit of the dress on her is impeccable. Beautiful!

  18. Guest April 14, 2019 at 10:13 pm #

    She’s a complete bore.

  19. Guest April 14, 2019 at 10:13 pm #

+1. This is the kind of Raf piece that just doesn’t cut it. I miss the grand days of Dior. Natalie can do much better than this, especially at Cannes.

As usual with Dior, I find this look boring.

  21. Guest April 14, 2019 at 10:13 pm #

Agreed. Wish she opted for better shoes!

  22. Guest April 14, 2019 at 10:13 pm #

She looks very chic and beautiful, but I would’ve preferred this is as a full length gown and I’m not a fan of her shoes.

It is perfection head to toe!

  24. Guest April 14, 2019 at 10:13 pm #

She looks good (even though she could have done better with the footwear)! Elegant, poised, timeless. She did well.

Yes, their known for the style/fashion but I don’t think Dior actually hires them for that, is because they have proved to be great professionals that can carry solid carreers and that’s why their interest in working them. At least that I can say because of the profile the carry.

Bored already. And bored of those stars that stick to one designer, contractually or not, boredom.

Dior should free them all ! It’s like their contract says “I own you and you should wear me for as long as you’ll live”. Nothing worse in fashion than not being able to experiment with different designers.

Can someone point me to a source that says Dior contractually obligates their actresses to wear Dior all the time? People bring up this issue constantly, but I’m not sure it’s the case. Of the Dior ambassadors, the only ones that really seem into fashion are Theron and Rihanna and those two wear non-Dior all the time. I don’t think Portman, Lawrence and Cotillard care about fashion that much.

        • Lee May 17, 2015 at 1:47 am #

All of the girls you mentioned are or were identified as fashion “it” girls at some point for their style/fashion sense and flare. That is why Dior snatched them and made them their ambassadors. Also, It is too early to tell about Rihanna as her ambassadorship just started!
