Get The Look: Emmy Rossum’s ‘Gala in the Garden’ Sleek Parisian Ponytail

Hammer Museum 12th Annual Gala In The Garden With Generous Support From Bottega Veneta

Celebrity hairstylist Cervando Maldonado worked with Emmy Rossum for the Hammer Museum’s ‘Gala in the Garden’ on Saturday.

Cervando shares his inspiration: “The inspiration for the look was a sleek Parisian ponytail.”

Here’s how to get the look.

He began by applying two pumps of Leonor Greyl Serum de Soie Sublimateur to slightly damp hair, distributing evenly throughout.

Next he blew the hair dry using a Harry Josh Blow Dryer and flat-ironed section by section, bottom to top with a Harry Josh Flat Iron. This left the hair shiny and very straight.

Then he sprayed Serge Normant Meta Sheer Dry Finishing Spray lightly throughout the hair to create extra shine and sleekness. After that he parted the hair in a deep side part and applied Osmo Clay Wax, running it through the hair. He then took a comb and combed through the hair, really making it hold together and stay close to the head. He pulled all the hair back to the nape, pinching it tight, and wrapped a bungee-cord hair tie around the hair very tightly, creating a low ponytail. Then he took a piece of the ponytail and wrapped it around the hair tie to cover and camouflage it.

Next he poured a nickel-sized amount of Shu Uemura Nourishing Protective Oil, rubbed it in his hands, then distributed it through the whole head from the top to the ponytail, which created major shine and a wet look. He finished off by spraying Frederic Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray for one last bit of hold and shine.
