Get The Look: Vera Farmiga’s ‘The Judge’ LA Premiere Makeup

"The Judge" - Los Angeles Premiere - ArrivalsCelebrity makeup artist Dawn Broussard worked with Vera Farmiga for the premiere of ‘The Judge’ this week.

Dawn shared her beauty inspiration: “For Vera’s premiere look I wanted to create a modern yet unique and unexpected tone. I created a smouldering effect with the eye shadow shades, deflecting on the hints of rose in the colour and texture of her Elie Saab dress.”

Here’s how to get the look.

Dawn started by prepping the skin with Hourglass Primer, gently working it into the skin with a Shiseido Foundation Brush. Using the same brush, she applied Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide in Shell. In keeping with the same tool, she finds it helps with the mixture of the two products. The more you work it into the skin, the more seamless the texture becomes. Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-2 I was then applied lightly to the under-eye area, forehead, chin and bridge of the nose to highlight and to conceal any imperfections. She dusted translucent powder very sparingly over the edges of the face, keeping the skin looking fresh and luminous.

NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Dolomites was used to blend around the eyes. This colour combo is amazing for creating a smouldering look, yet is still playful – the hints of rose quartz and dark chocolates glisten on the eyes. This is one of her new favourites for the fall palette. Dawn used only these two colours to create the look, blending them softly together and washing them over the eyes.

She lined the lower lash line with the darker colour, yet kept it quite close to the lash line. Dawn then added the rose quartz in the corners of the eye for a boost and a highlight. Using a Lash Card by Elizabeth Mott, she applied LancĂŽme Hypnose Drama Mascara in Excessive Black. You place the Lash Card right on the lash line and then move the mascara wand up the lashes onto the card. This really helps paint the lashes much more precisely and any excess product will remain on the card as opposed to the skin.

Tarte Brow Mousse in Taupe filled in her brows ever so slightly on the edges to create a bolder shape. Keeping the brow hairs in place perfectly was Tarte Tinted Brow Gel in Taupe. This product has such a precise brush and the colours are perfection.

Dawn then blended NARS Contour Blush in Olympia right underneath the cheekbone and around the edges of the face to give structure and depth where it was needed. Keeping a bright healthy pink glow, she used NARS Blush in Mata Hari.

The lip colour she wanted to keep neutral yet with a hint of freshness. Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Sedona Sands is a wonderful nude colour with a hint of flush. She also used MAC Lip Pencil in Oak for slight definition.
