Shailene Woodley In Rodarte – 2014 Met Gala

Shailene Woodley In Rodarte - 2014 Met Gala
Shailene Woodley was also in the modish mix at the 2014 Met Gala, held on Monday (May 5) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The actress, who we saw really transform into a fashion darling during her ‘Divergent’ press tour, found inspiration in a Rodarte Fall 2014 off-the-shoulder gown.

I can perhaps understand why this dress was chosen for the evening, what with its period-inspired silhouette and highly decorative nature, alongside ornate metallic embellishment and sheer chiffon detailing.

But I didn’t love the way it translated on Shailene. Or maybe I just cannot get past her spiked and highlighted pixie ’do, which I found oddly aging for the young starlet.

Absolutely terrible look. Not even at the Met Gala is this acceptable to me. The dress is hideous enough and then she went and styled her hair like that..

I like the dress but I think it’s her hair that didn’t work with it. She had it dyed blonde for Insurgent which starts filming this month. If she had extensions, it would’ve been much better. I liked her Letterman show outfit much better. 🙂

Beautiful and romantic! I loved this outfit. BDOTN (best dressed of the night)

I agree the whole ensemble aged her quite a bit.

Not that it is an excuse, but the hair cut is for a movie role: Divergent’s sequel, Insurgent. Her character cuts her own hair in the story. Shailene already had it short (for TFIOS) so I guess the decided to go even shorter. Oh well.

The dress is not right for her, she isn’t selling it esp. with that hair.

Why is nobody stating the obvious about the terrible haircut…it looks to me like somebody has major JLAW envy!

She may have cut her hair for a movie role. I believe the character she plays in the Divergent series, Tris Prior, chops off her hair in the book they are currently working on.

Yet another off-theme, what-the-heck-is-this look. It’s just…weird. I mean, there’s some great detailing but the overall ensemble is pretty terrible.

The dress is super ugly to begin with. Nobody could have saved it.

I’d go so far as to say worst dressed, but then I’ve never been a fan of hers

  11. Nat May 6, 2014 at 12:00 pm #

This might be one of the ugliest dresses that I have ever seen.

  12. amy May 6, 2014 at 11:49 am #

the dress is awful, that’s pretty self- sabotage

  13. Yeliz May 6, 2014 at 11:03 am #

    Aging hairstyle and terrible dress.

  14. Christine May 6, 2014 at 10:54 am #

    This is ugly

What a missed opportunity. Ilaria Urbinati had been doing such a good job with her but this just feel like someone got a little too over confident with the recent praise and took a bit of a leap too far.

this year is by far the worst met gala ever. so many models didn’t attend, no real stars just c-listed celebrities, the theme was so easy and barely anyone followed it except for karolina .

      I totally agree.
And we have seen a LOT of awful dresses !

    • 777 May 6, 2014 at 11:20 am #

      so truee

    • liz May 6, 2014 at 12:02 pm #

I could’ve dealt with “predictable” or even “meh” but most of the dresses were just plain ugly, like this one.

    • Nat May 6, 2014 at 2:07 pm #

I agree and the theme was so easy

  17. kane May 6, 2014 at 8:43 am #

The dress is hmmm, and the model wears it better.

  18. Betelgeuze May 6, 2014 at 8:25 am #

Aww, why did she changed her hair? 🙁 It was so perfect and versatile IMO.

I like the idea of that dress, but I don’t think it translates well on the red carpet.

  19. Charlotte May 6, 2014 at 8:13 am #

    The dress is awful !
And the hairstyle is cheap and not good on her.

  20. Teleholic May 6, 2014 at 7:58 am #

Just when she was hitting her stride, someone goes and does that to her hair.

  21. Valissa May 6, 2014 at 7:43 am #

I should love this dress but I don’t. I don’t get the top grey part of it. It doesn’t go well with the rest of it.
Her hair is bad too…I don’t think I’ve ever loved a red carpet look from her sadly.

  22. cherrysoftness May 6, 2014 at 6:15 am #

Her shoes, hair, make-up and pose were all not on board with the romanticism and medieval quality this dress could have provided.

  24. Prudence May 6, 2014 at 6:06 am #

she looks like a 40 year old woman.

  25. Robyn May 6, 2014 at 6:00 am #

LOVE the dress (on the runway, at least)! unfortunately, the same can’t be said about the hair…

  26. Alina May 6, 2014 at 5:59 am #

    What is this?!

  27. Jess2 May 6, 2014 at 5:51 am #

Not on board with this dress unfortunately.
