Emma Stone In Thakoon – 2014 Met Gala

Emma Stone In Thakoon - 2014 Met Gala

Emma Stone was captivating at the 2014 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 5).

Coming off her recent chic streak for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ promotions, the actress continued to impress in her custom Thakoon two-piece pink and magenta, colour-block gown.

The body-skimming, tailored edge of the cropped halter top with a crisscross back was beautifully juxtaposed with the flowing wrap skirt which trailed loosely behind her.

She accessorized with a complementary Tod’s metallic and magenta box clutch, barely the hint of jewels and a chunky side braid.

While it had nothing in common with the rush of ball gowns that were seen on the red carpet, I cannot help but love this effortless and contemporary style that was eye-catchingly notable purely by its simplicity.

Love the look but agree with everyone else, perhaps not the right choice for the Met Gala.

I love this look! I love the colours, the hairdo, the make-up… She looks fantastic!

For me it’s less exiting take on a Giambattista Valli dress she wore years ago. (It was a knitted red top with hot pink shirt with some interesting details.

wow!! i never thought i would love a pink look this much!! she looks fabulous!

  6. Carrie May 6, 2014 at 4:11 pm #

It may have had nothing to do with the theme, but I adore it nevertheless!

She is gorgeous and the colors are fab on her. I’m not a fan of croptops or slits, though, and the whole thing is a bit too sporty for the event.

I would love it if it was a premiere for The Amazing Spider-Man.
For the Met gala, I have to say no. It’s way too sporty.

Interesting that Kate Bosworth’s post is filled with comments about her weight loss but not a word for Emma. Hmm…

j’adore! she always looks amazing. it’s true that the dress is simple and maybe not event appropriate but she looks stunning nonetheless. one of my favorites, for sure! impeccable styling and gorgeous lady!

Emma looks raidant , chic and striking at the same time. Modern and not over the top. Totally love it.

    Emma looks really gorgeous!

Love her.. Love it! It’s not the kind of dress you should wear to a gala, but she definetly works it

Emma Stone in pink is my favorite combo. LOVE THIS even though it’s not right for the theme.

The close up is so gorgeous, but I also feel that this wasn’t quite right for the event.

I absolutely love this gown, just not for the Met. The pink on pink couldn’t be prettier on Emma. Maybe someone needed to explain the Gala rules here.

Looks like she’s going to the beach in Malibu, not the Met gala in NYC. I like it but not for this event.

  17. Alina May 6, 2014 at 9:01 am #

    I absolutely LOVE this!

  18. Yeliz May 6, 2014 at 9:00 am #

It doesn’t suit to the theme but I love it nonetheless. The colours are gorgeous on her and her styling is flawless.

There is a beautiful outfit, but lacks originality. It looks almost the same as the Lanvin dress worn in 2011 at the Baftas.

I love the hair and makeup. The dress reminds me of the Monique Lhuillier that Leslie Mann wore to the LA Premiere for The Other Woman, and it comes up short in comparison.

Lovely! She’s just glowing. Delectable colors and a beautiful design. I think I can see why it might not quite fit the event, but I like it enough that I don’t care. 🙂

I love Emma. That’s all that matters.

  24. Emmeline May 6, 2014 at 3:38 am #

She looks lovely, though a little underwhelming considering the event. I think this would have looked better at one of the Spiderman premieres.

  25. Sophy May 6, 2014 at 3:37 am #

There is a time and place for simplicity – this is not it!!!

Nice but completely lacking the event-appropriate glamour – wrong for the gala.

  27. Christine May 6, 2014 at 3:22 am #

Nothing to do with the theme but I kinda like this. She carries this with ease. It kinda works

    • Kate May 6, 2014 at 4:16 am #

I agree. It may not be totally in tune with the theme, but I can’t help but be SO in love with this look. Emma looks gorgeous and this is definitely one of my favorites.
