Black Girls Rock! 2013 Red Carpet Roundup

Black Girls Rock! 2013 Red Carpet Roundup

Here is a round up to the rest of the looks from the Black Girls Rock! event, which was held at New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, October 26, 2013 to honour legendary singer Patti Labelle.

Kelly Rowland: The singer is never one to shy away from a (strategically) revealing ensemble, and with this Alon Livne Fall 2013 jumpsuit, you get just that. The embellishments and half-sleeves on top gave way to a sheer pant silhouette on bottom. To finish, she wore Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Christian Louboutin heels.

Tatyana Ali: The actress went the glamorous route in a white Michael Costello fishtail gown, which boasted a dramatic rosette detail at the shoulder, a subtle geometric cutout at the midriff, and a metal-plated B-Low the Belt ‘Vanity’ belt at the waist. Her look was completed with a soft updo, red lips, and Erickson Beamon jewelry.

Keke Palmer: Opting for something elegant and just a little bit celestial, the actress wore a black sparkle Novis ‘Dovima’ gown. Her loose curls, flawless make-up, and minimal accessories were the appropriate complement to such an eye-catching dress.

Amber Riley: The ‘Glee’ star — and current ‘Dancing with the Stars’ contestant — chose a Rachel Roy mesh-back dress for the occasion. The body-conscious creation featured three-quarter sleeves and an all-over multicolor bird print. But the bold look didn’t stop there; she styled the dress with black platform sandals, oversize hoop earrings, and voluminous curls.

Michelle Williams: Playing it safe, the singer donned the sleeveless and black waistband-infused Marissa Webb ‘Georgina’ dress. It was the accessories — Giuseppe Zanotti ankle-strap pumps and a reptilian-print clutch — that provided some much needed spice to this outfit.

La La Anthony: The starlet opted out of the dress route, favoring a cool Emilio Pucci crystal-embellished jumpsuit instead. She partnered the look with a wristful of bangles, embellished heels, and a seasonally apropos cranberry-hued lip.

Keke looks beautiful…Michelle looks classy. Everyone else is a terrible mess, ranging from boring to horrendous.

Oh, I choose Tatyana, by far! She looks beautiful, I LOVE that dress, and it’s by PR alum Michael Costello, which makes it even cooler, to me!

I also adore Keke’s dress, she looks like a beautiful Barbie doll!

“(Strategically) revealing ensemble”? I’m sorry but I sure hope it’s a case of “we had no clue this would turn out as see-through on the pictures.” What a inconsistent event style-wise, it doesn’t seem the ladies knew how they should dress. I like Keke’s look, but the styling is hardly outstanding.

    Keke is my favourite here.

FC, what did you think about Queen Latifah’s look? She stood out for me as the best dressed at this event.
