Atelier Versace Spring 2012

I died and went to heaven several times this morning during the Atelier Versace Spring 2012 presentation, which opened the Spring 2012 Couture season.

Karlie Kloss (my fave) was the first to gracefully navigate the tricky golden stairs in a form-fitting embroidered pearl-grey paillettes gown. The breath-taking gown with Chantilly lace panels on the side was encrusted with Swarovski crystals.

How she was able to walk down and then up the stairs to take her position at the side of the stairs in stacked heels I will never know, but she’s never looked more beautiful.

Fourteen more models followed in Karlie’s footsteps, equally smouldering with high blunt-cut ponytails, smoky eyes and full-on sexy face which J-Lo would be very proud of.

Speaking of J-Lo, there were many looks from this presentation with her name all over it.

I can see her wearing look 14 which was an outstanding strapless orange gown with an oval-shaped bodice that cuts away to reveal an open back. It is decorated with micro paillettes and Swarovski crystals for a dégradé effect.

We saw mini dresses with cut-out details and sculptural peplums, strapless gowns with gold metal discs sculptured into the bust, a leather biker jacket with leather floral appliqués paired with leather shorts with gold metallic inserts, and a yellow corset one-piece worn by Lindsey Wixon with gold metal inserts.

The colour palette for this collection was gold and silver in tones of champagne and pearl grey with pops of vivid orange, yellow and acid green.

Those vibrant pieces we just have to see on the red carpet at the Grammys next month.
