Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Nice, But No Wow Factor Award
Taraji P. Henson’s hair and make-up were flawless at the 41st Annual NAACP Image Awards.

The actress opted for a Herve L. Leroux bandage dress which did look amazing on her toned body.

The peacock colour is gorgeous but I’m not feeling any kind of wow factor from this look.

Maybe a few more accessories or a stand out clutch would’ve made me fall in love with this look.

Nice Dress, Boring Shoes Award Singer Keri Hilson wore all black at the 41st NAACP Image Awards on Friday night.

I love Keri's black flamenco style Rami Kashou dress with a huge rosette detail on the hip and ruffles cascading down the skirt.

It looks like a lot of work went into this dress, which is such a shame the Keri couldn't have been more imaginative with her shoe choice.

Black pumps...yawn. I think I once wore a safe pair of pumps like those to a job interview.

Strap on a pair of silver or black strappy sandals and have more fun.

The pumps numb me to this look which is a huge shame.

Most Casual Award
Garcelle Beauvais arrived at the 41st NAACP Image Awards looking very casual in comparison to everyone else.

She opted for a Pamella Roland Spring 2009 cobalt blue one shoulder dress with sash tied to the waist.

Although the look is casual, it not too casual to say she didn’t make an effort.

With a beautiful face like Garcelle’s, she can get away with wearing just about anything.

The actress paired her look with a silver Jimmy Choo Private sandals.

Most Improved Award
For someone so young and so pretty Gabrielle Union is not usually that impressive on the red carpet.

She always dresses too maturely or in really dark colours, so I was happy to see her glistened on the red carpet at the 41st NAACP Image Awards.

Gabrielle looked beautiful wearing a Pamella Roland Spring 2010 silver modern beaded cocktail dress with long sleeves.

I love her whole look which included silver Jimmy Choo heels and a Jimmy Choo clutch.

The lighter streaks in her hair makes her appear younger.

Hostess with the Mostest Award
Anika Noni Rose was the host of the 41st NAACP Image Awards on Friday night.

The good thing about being host, is that you get to wear many stunning looks and Anika did just that.

She started off her night walking the red carpet wearing a Ysa Makino gown.

The cream coloured sweetheart beaded mermaid gown was simply breathtaking.

You can tell she loves the gown as she poses so confidently in it.

She then changed into a canary yellow BCBG Max Azria gown with gold trim accents which showed off her assets.

A black asymmetrical gown wrapped around her figure giving her a stunning silhouette.

The blue gown was my least favourite.

My favourite was Anika’s A-Friggin-Mazing Naeem Khan gown.

Naeem designs get better and better.

Anika glows in this strapless ruby satin trumpet gown with pear-shape crystal beaded bodice.

I just want to stand near this gown and drink in it’s fabulousity.

This was easily her best look of the night.

Least Flattering Award
Sandra Bullock arrived at the 41st NAACP Image Awards on Friday night with her husband Jesse James.

Sandra’s Lee McQueen tribute was admirable, but her Alexander McQueen Resort 2009 dress with an embroidered humming bird and floral detail doesn’t suit her at all.

It looks great on the runway, but the asymmetrical flamenco-style hemline, plus the cold-shoulder detail and that purple clutch don’t work for me at all.

I also think that if you’re going to wear a dress like this, a lighter strappy sandal would work better.

Her Sergio Rossi heels feel too heavy for this look.

Couldn’t find one positive from this look.
