Cannes Film Festival Day 7 Red Carpet Roundup

Day 7 of the Cannes Film Festival brought with it some stunning entrances as part of the 70th anniversary celebration. Here are more looks that took to the red carpet on Tuesday (May 23)

Irina Shayk: The model wasn’t at the 70th screening but she was at the ‘Hikari (Radiance)’ premiere, where it would seem to have taken the title of the film into account in her lemon-bright Atelier Versace custom gown styled with Lorraine Schwartz canary yellow diamonds to match. The dress was not only sheer Versace with its ruched, slit seductiveness, it was also sheer through and through although its lemony hue somewhat distracted from the see-through effect.

Bianca Balti: For the 70th anniversary screening, Bianca opted for a Dolce and Gabbana Alta Moda embroidered gown styled with DeGrisogono statement earrings. With a faint kimono-esque style, the dress held a sense of restrained elegance—although I did find the embellished heels to be unnecessary to complete the picture.

Kate Beckinsale In Zuhair Murad Couture – 2017 Billboard Music Awards

Kate Beckinsale grace the red carpet for the 2017 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 21) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Music awards shows are a time when some take risks, but Kate stayed firmly in her wheelhouse wearing a Zuhair Murad Spring 2017 Couture gown.

Showered with firework motifs; this is as daring as we can expect from Kate.

Her signature ponytail, Borgioni black diamond spike earrings and Jimmy Choo shoes completed her look.

Araya A. Hargate In Zuhair Murad Couture – ‘120 Beats Per Minute’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Araya A. Hargate has not put a foot wrong during Cannes Film Festival, and she shone brightly again tonight (May 20) for the ‘120 Beats Per Minute (120 Battements Par Minute)’ premiere.

At five months pregnant this lady has been working the red carpet in awe-inspiring fashion.

Serving up her most voluminous gown yet, the actress blew me away in this fuchsia Zuhair Murad Spring 2017 Couture bustier princess gown with a big bold bow to boot.

One so petite could get lost in all that tulle, but she looks at least 6ft tall here, which is quite remarkable.

Styled with stunning drop earrings, this might just my favourite from her so far.

Chopard Space Party

Galactic with a touch of diamonds was said to be the dress code of the Chopard SPACE Party, co-hosted by Rihanna, during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on Friday (May 19), and the stars in attendance indeed delivered a constellation of looks appropriately dusted with Chopard jewels.

Bella Hadid: Lest you think Bella had turned a corner with a newly modest style after the ‘Okja’ premiere, her Roberto Cavalli Couture slit-to-thigh gown promptly signaled her return to the leg jut. But, it was necessary to show off her custom-made Rene Caovilla gladiator sandals. I always find satin a challenging fabric, and that was evidenced here. Futuristically winged eyeliner finished the look.

Adriana Lima: Looking impossibly regal, Adriana struck a divine note in this Reem Acra Spring 2018 Bridal gown that would never be confused for a wedding dress. I was in awe of the glamour that exuded form the embellished top and dramatic, caped split sleeve.

Kendall Jenner: I love the sculptural mood of this shimmering Ralph & Russo Spring 2017 Couture design that could certainly pass for space-age sophistication.

Winnie Harlow In Zuhair Murad Couture – ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Winnie Harlow glided down the red carpet for the ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ screening during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on Thursday (May 18).

I have to say I was a little disappointed by this Zuhair Murad Spring 2017 Couture offering from Winnie.

Someone with her fashion-forward prowess should’ve gone for something more daring. And by daring I don’t mean an Alexandre Vauthier Couture dress slashed to the hip bone, more like an avant-garde Jean Paul Gaultier design.

The electric blue silk of this Couture gown didn’t travel well according to the creases, so hopefully she will have the opportunity to dazzle us again before this festival concludes.

Chopard jewels and René Caovilla sandals completed the look.

Sara Sampaio In Zuhair Murad Couture – ‘Ismael’s Ghosts’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Sara Sampaio attended the 2017 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony and premiere of ‘Ismael’s Ghosts’ on Wednesday (May 17).

For the occasion, she wore a dramatic Zuhair Murad Couture gown from the Spring 2017 collection.

The plunging neckline and dramatic bell shape of the gown only amplify the intricate detail work of the beading. And of course, how can you not note that the beading is in the shape of fireworks? This is definitely a stunning fashion explosion on the red carpet.

I do however miss the peplum detail from the runway–I understand why she opted against it, since it could have come across bulky and awkward for real life wear, but since Cannes is a place for drama and risks, I wish she would have ‘gone there’!

Diamond jewels and a long, loose braid keep this look equal parts elegant and modern, and I’m a fan!
