The Obamas hosted a state dinner at the White House in Washington, DC on Friday (September 25) for Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan.

Giving a nod to her guests, Michelle Obama made a stunning entrance onto the red carpet wearing a custom black mermaid gown featuring a rather sexy v neckline and tulle sleeve accents by Chinese-American designer Vera Wang.

Evening without my new found appreciation for all things black, this took my breath-away.

From the being perfectly tailored to contour the body, the enchanting design and the longer tousled waves, I love that Michelle is serving up old Hollywood glamour here.

Are you equally blown away?

Keri Hilson In Vera Wang – 2015 Jeffrey Fashion Cares Atlanta

Keri Hilson In Vera Wang - 2015 Jeffrey Fashion Cares Atlanta

Keri Hilson attended the 2015 Jeffrey Fashion Cares Atlanta at Phipps Plaza on Monday (August 31) in Atlanta, Georgia.

The singer wore a Vera Wang Spring 2015 black halter dress which would’ve come off tent-like and perhaps been overwhelming had she not opted for the statement belt.

Understated and chic. This is a welcome return for Ms Hilson. Do you agree?

Rita Ora In Vera Wang & Alexandre Vauthier Couture – 2015 MTV Video Music Awards #VMAs

Rita Ora In Vera Wang - 2015 MTV Video Music Awards #VMAs

Rita Ora attended the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday (August 30) in Los Angeles, California.

Being the diva that she is, the British singer wore two looks.

The first was a custom Vera Wang gown featuring dramatic black ostrich feathers which she styled with Stuart Weitzman ‘Legwrap’ sandals.

While Rita isn’t my favourite red carpet star, you can always rely on her to bring something noteworthy to the table.

On this occasion I love the look. It’s sexy and modern without reeking of try hard.

One can also thank god she didn’t opt for red lipstick with this look.

Rita Ora In Vera Wang – ‘Blitz to Hits’ 5th Anniversary Celebration

Rita Ora In Vera Wang - 'Blitz to Hits' 5th Anniversary Celebration

Rita Ora was spotted out in New York City following her’Blitz to Hits’ 5th anniversary celebration performance on Tuesday (August 11).

The British singer wore a head-to-toe Vera Wang Fall 2015 look.

I do love the look partly for its sense of modern attitude, but I much prefer the runway styling with the corset rather than Rita’s bra.

Even though this was a performance piece, the bra takes this down a familiar road for Rita: tackyville.

FOX All-Star Party Red Carpet Roundup

FOX All-Star Party Red Carpet Roundup

Many more stars joined January Jones and Lea Michele on the red carpet at the 2015 Summer TCA Tour FOX All-Star Party at Soho House on Thursday (August 6) in West Hollywood, California.

Keke Palmer: I love the colour and iridescent sheen of her Self-Portrait outfit, but even with the crop top making up a small fraction of the knit look, this still feels too heavy for the current season.

Nikki Reed: The actress wore a style of dress by Lover which was inherently prim, but the sheer lace adds a sensual twist.

Taraji P. Henson: TV’s IT girl was showing a lot of cleavage in this typically sexy Cushnie et Ochs flap edge dress from the Pre-Fall 2015 collection. I’m thankful of the length otherwise this could’ve veered into very-tacky territory.

Comic-Con 2015 Red Carpet Roundup

Comic con roundup
The star-studded Comic-Con 2015 weekend brought out a host of other bold names for the range of parties and panel discussions in San Diego, California.

Natalie Dormer: Attending the Screen Gems panel, the ‘Game of Thrones’ actress wore a Mary Katrantzou lamur guipure lace and jacquard midi dress with blue-green embroidered accents. I like how her ponytail adds a fresh, breezy note to this darker look, but I have no words for the shoes that should have been a simple black or blue sandal if nothing else. You may remember that Shailene Woodley wore the same dress a few months ago.

Sarah Paulson: Fusing femininity with structure, this Suno cutout flared black dress was a successful look for Sarah at the Entertainment Weekly Comic-Con 2015 party. I was equally delighted to see her step outside the plain-black box with accessories including a silver Edie Parker clutch and silver Aldo shoes.

Kate Mara: Also joining the dark colour parade, Kate wore an embellished Valentino Fall 2015 design at the 20th Century Fox panel discussion. She let the mini dress shine all on its own with only minimal styling including a simple pair of black sandals and a few beaded bracelets, which I would argue were unnecessary too.
