Olivia Palermo In Roberto Cavalli - amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala

I honestly didn’t recognise Olivia Palermo on the red carpet at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala held at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France this evening.

The spirit of Cavalli took over tonight as she became a sex kitten in one of the Italian designer’s classic animal print gowns.

I’m not sure what happened at the party last night, but a night with Cavalli has turned her into a new woman — a woman who wears a cut-out gown slashed near the hip-bone.

It is nice to see her experimenting, but I can’t see her rocking this kind of look too often.

Sergio Rossi sandals, a box clutch and loose braid completed her look.

Zhang Yuqi In Roberto Cavalli - amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala

Our favourite newcomer Zhang Yuqi took to the red carpet for the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala held at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France this evening.

The Asian beauty stunned wearing a Roberto Cavalli pale-grey gown with a deep plunge and lace overlay, giving her a sexy streamline silhouette.

We’ve seen her in so many ball gowns, that it is great she opted to show off her toned figure on this occasion.

Looking every inch the sultry old Hollywood siren, she opted for a retro updo, Chopard jewels and a silver box clutch.

Roberto Cavalli Cannes Dinner Party

Roberto ‘I am the party’ Cavalli hosted a party onboard his ‘RC’ yacht, anchored in the Old Port of Cannes yesterday evening, and he invited a few of his closest celebrity pals to enjoy an Italian fest and dance the night away Cavalli style.

Sharon Stone: The actress has been wearing a variety of Cavalli gowns during this festival but, on this occasion, she donned a white Cavalli three-piece suit with sequin lapels and pants with black lace accents. She wears the gowns just as well as these masculine pieces.

Olivia Palermo: The socialite opted for a heavily embellished long-sleeved frock from the Roberto Cavalli Fall 2013 collection. As you know, Olivia can’t live without a feather accent; this time they festooned her ankle-strap shoes and not her arm candy, which on this occasion was dual-coloured and studded.

Kylie Minogue: The Australian actress worked a lingerie-inspired Roberto Cavalli animal-print slip dress with black sandals with gold piping. Methinks this one is strictly for the boudoir.

Irina Shayk, Alessandra Ambrosio & Liu Wen In Roberto Cavalli - ‘All Is Lost’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Despite competition from Raf Simons at Dior, Roberto Cavalli is the go-to designer for starlets and models this Cannes Film Festival.

Ranging from the sublime to the near naked, the Cavalli gowns always give us something to talk about. We saw six different Cavalli looks yesterday; here are three more from the ‘All is Lost’ premiere this evening:

Irina Shayk: Some might say this is a typical Cavalli gown; overtly sexy, sheer, embellished with cut out details. I would say that even for Cannes, there is just too much on display.

Alessandra Ambrosio: The Victoria’s Secret model opted for more coverage wearing a silver fully sequined long-sleeve gown with a degrade gold hemline and an open back styled with de Grisogono jewels.

Liu Wen: In total contrast to the first two looks, Liu Wen was the picture of elegance wearing a royal blue strapless Cavalli devore gown styled with Chopard jewels.

With some designers you can tell they design for one type of woman. Judging by these three looks, Cavalli designs for all types of women from the attention seeking to the shy retiring types.

Li Yuchun In Roberto Cavalli - Chinese Party

Li Yuchun came to our attention yesterday wearing a Gareth Pugh Spring 2013 Chinese-red ensemble, which appears to be the marmite look of Cannes so far.

She proved she wasn’t afraid of taking a risk, wearing a bold colour and an unusual design at the Chinese Party held later that evening; she proved that she’s not afraid of prints either.
It would appear that Li Yuchun’s red carpet M.O. is of an androgynous nature.

I could be wrong and she’ll hit the red carpet later today in a tulle ballgown, but at the party she rocked another menswear-inspired look, this time from the Roberto Cavalli Fall 2013 collection.
The black-and-white look featuring a jacket with satin lapels was ripped right off the runway with the exclusion of the shoes.

Someone not so bold – unless they are Karolina Kurkova or Solange Knowles – would’ve added black pants or a black shirt to break up the prints; however, Yuchun rocked it as it was intended.

I can’t wait to see more of her style. I have a feeling she’s the Tilda Swinton of China.

Sharon Stone In Roberto Cavalli - De Grisogono Party

Sharon Stone dialled up the glamour a few notches following her red carpet appearance at the ‘Behind The Candelabra’ Cannes Film Festival premiere when she attended the De Grisogono Party held at the Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France yesterday evening.

Dressed in yet another Cavalli creation, the actress showed off her toned figure wearing a red one-shoulder gown with a thigh-high slit, open back, and a cut-out detail which gives her a bit of side boob.

Adding the hosts’ de Grisogono jewels to her look, Sharon further accessorized with Jimmy Choo sandals and a gold clutch.

Some of you go back and forth on your feelings when it comes to Cavalli gowns, ranging from admiration to calls of tacky.

Where does this look rank?
