2017 MTV EMAs Red Carpet Roundup

While many will still be talking about Rita Ora’s double bathrobe moment at the 2017 MTV EMAs on Sunday (November 12) in London, there were plenty of other daring looks to likewise borrow some of the spotlight.

Leomie Anderson: I love how the model looked to vintage Vivienne Westwood inspiration in this Fall 1994 look. Her high ponytail and combat boots added another layer of sassy edge to the look that had plenty of modern edge.

Demi Lovato: Proving that plaid and a paper-bag waist can somehow maintain a sexy appeal, Demi worked the proportions of this Styland suit to her advantage. Giuseppe Zanotti plafforms were clearly necessary given the length of the pants, with Messika jewelry rounding out the look. If the super-long extensions get a pass, it’s only because of this being a MTV occasion.

Tallia Storm: Her Topshop ‘Cosmic Star’ embellished slip dress offered an accessible interpretation on red-carpet dressing. I can easily see the socks and platforms being a sticking point, however, they did bring funky appeal, with an Alexander McQueen clutch for a bit of overt British flavour to finish the look.

Kerry Washington In Roberto Cavalli – 2017 GLSEN Respect Awards

I have really been enjoying Kerry Washington’s recent run of looks whilst on the promo circuit for ‘Scandal,’ and she was back on the red carpet on Friday (October 20) for the 2017 GLSEN Respect Awards in Beverly Hills, California.

The actress’s style runs the gamut from classic ladylike sophistication to more directionally dramatic allure. Here, I would say she presented the best of both of those worlds in this Roberto Cavalli Resort 2018 look.

This was a power suit—a flower power suit—if there ever was one. It was feminine and—dare way say—fierce, too.

I love how she brought a romantic softness to the bold-natured design with her voluminous waves and the retro flick of her blue cat-eye liner.

Bvlgari Flagship Store Reopening

A group of models were in the mix with Ruby Rose and Ciara at the Bvlgari Flagship Store reopening on Friday (October 20) in New York City.

Bella Hadid: We may have thought that Bella had turned over a new style leaf after her last look, but she was very much back to her comfort zone of body-con silhouettes and thigh-grazing slits in this Roberto Cavalli Resort 2018 gown. That, coupled with her styling that included Stuart Weitzman heels, a high ponytail, and a Bvlgari ‘Serpenti’ bag, and I have a feeling that this ensemble won’t be met with as much fresh praise.

Lily Aldridge: The model kept it classic and simple in an Alex Perry Resort 2018 gown, which clearly acted as the canvas for her necklace.

Irving Penn Exhibition Private Viewing Hosted by Vogue

A private viewing, hosted by Vogue, for the Irving Penn exhibition at the Grand Palais was held on Sunday (October 1) during Paris Fashion Week.

Adwoa Aboah: Taking a break from walking the runways at Paris Fashion Week, Adwoa posed in a Richard Quinn Spring 2018 look that offered an invigorating, happy mix of ditzy florals. You would think with so many bold, competing prints that this would translate as disjointed. But, on the contrary, I loved this look on Adwoa, and I also credit its success to her minimal approach to the styling, with a black sandal and red pout all she needed. Flower power, indeed.

Kylie Minogue: I think it’s safe to say that Kylie put this Alice McCall ‘More Than A Woman’ fringe gown to work for her—as it was made to be spun around. As fun as it was, I was a bit tassel fatigued and the muted, mauve-pink colour wasn’t my favourite for the vibrancy of the entertainer, but she attempted to bring a splash of vividness via her lipstick.

Dita von Teese: With a look that riffed on the field-of-poppies print from the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2017 Couture collection, Dita maximized proportions with this look. I have mixed feelings on the balloon sleeves, as they might be lumped into a costume-y circus category. But, the colours were striking in contrast to the black pencil skirt.

Harper’s BAZAAR Celebrates ‘ICONS By Carine Roitfeld’

The list of lovelies at Harper’s BAZAAR Celebrates ‘ICONS By Carine Roitfeld’ on Friday (September 8) in New York City was seemingly unending, as a number of stars joined Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, and Kim Kardashian.

Gigi Hadid: Her hyper-embellished Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2017 ensemble, styled with Lorraine Schwartz jewels, was so intricate and powerful of a statement that it really didn’t require the rhinestone clogs.

Kaia Gerber: Cindy Crawford’s model daughter was all grown up in a slinky Kristian Aadnevik Fall 2017 mini that had her looking like her mom more and more.

Kendall Jenner: There was little left to the imagination in this Dolce & Gabbana ruched, sheer number. Yet, ironically in spite of the see-through, I couldn’t help but still get a certain sophisticated, glam vibe with the look, which I will chalk up to its silhouette along with Kendall’s Old-Hollywood waves, Lorraine Schwartz jewels, and Jimmy Choo sandals.

Katy Perry hosts the 2017 MTV VMAs

Katy Perry was your hostest with the mostest for the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (August 27).

If you were expecting a ton of quirky outfits, you’ll be surprised as Katy was more glamour than kitsch.

Her Stéphane Rolland Fall 2017 Couture gown possessed all the sculptural elegance and fashion-forward prowess we expected from the designer. He continues to be one of the most underrated designers, as his work always blows me away.

Fifth Harmony @ The 2017 MTV VMAs

Dinah Jane, Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, and Lauren Jauregui of Fifth Harmony attended the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (August 27) in Inglewood, California, opting to showcase their individuals styles on this occasion.

Dinah Jane: While her Roberto Cavalli gown was pure white, she added an edge to her look with her deep red lips and collection of Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Ally Brooke: This Reem Acra outfit was my favourite, as it was the most playful of the quartet. I love the defined silhouette and metallic Casadei pumps.

Normani Kordei: My issue with Normani’s Bourjoisie dress was the overriding feeling of deja vu. Factor in the flattened twins and this didn’t sit too well with me.

Lauren Jauregui: I like the simplicity of Lauren’s Cushnie et Ochs gown and how she let the gown do the talking. She was the most polished of the group.

Am I alone in thinking that two appear dressed for Spring and two for Fall?
