Pace Wu’s Fall 2013 Paris Fashion Week

She did it again: Pace Wu was the Queen of Paris Fashion Week. This time she took in twelve shows giving twelve amazing front row looks.

Long may she reign.

Carven: She started off her fashionable week last Thursday at the Carven Fall 2013 presentation dressed in a summery organza cut-out embroidered dress from the Spring 2013 collection. Giving the pretty frock an edge, she styled the look with an interesting black clutch, which mimics the design on her dress, and open-toe lace booties.

Lanvin: Even though she looks divine, this chartreuse asymmetrical mini dress with a black bow on the shoulder from the Spring 2013 collection, which she styled with the same Lanvin ‘Arpege’ minaudiere the model carried on the runway, was my least favourite, as I’m not so crazy about the colour.

Viktor & Rolf: I adore this chic blue satin gown with a bow accent from the Viktor & Rolf Spring 2013 collection, but I wish she hadn’t opted for the white blazer as I’m curious to see the whole look, which differed from the gown which took to the runway. She styled her look with her favourite Jimmy Choo ‘Greta’ ankle-strap platform peep-toes and a pink clutch.

Penelope Cruz In Loewe – ‘Venuto al Mondo’ Madrid Photocall

Penelope Cruz kick started the New Year by attending a photocall for her latest movie, ‘Venuto al Mondo’ in Madrid, Spain this afternoon.

The Spanish beauty selected a rust suede trench coat from the Loewe Spring 2012 collection which she wore with dark wash jeans.

While the colour is beautiful and flattering for her olive complexion, I’m finding it hard to get excited about a coat on the red carpet.

I hope this is a warm up for when she dazzles us at the premiere.

Nieves Alvarez In Loewe, Burberry Prorsum & Elie Saab – Solo Moda

Nieves Alvarez, who I recently met during Milan Fashion Week, presented her nineteenth Solo Moda show this weekend.

Her first look was a Loewe Spring 2012 striped leather-and-suede blue dress which she styled with hot-pink Elie Saab shoes, to prevent the look from feeling too stuffy.

Look two was her second Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012 worn at this show. On this occasion she selected a mustard-and-green tee embellished with aqua stones, which she paired with a beautiful floral peplum skirt.

With so much detail going on in this look, she was wise to tone down the shoe choice, opting for black Jimmy Choo sandals.

My favourite look, not surprisingly, was her Elie Saab Spring 2012 electric-blue sparkling dress. You may remember that Berenice Bejo wore this same dress to the 2012 Critics’ Choice Awards earlier this year.

It would’ve been interesting had she worn the pink Elie Saab sandals with this look, but she opted for the blue version to match her dress instead.

Each look this week was styled with Alexis Bittar jewels.

Loewe Fall 2012

For Spring, Stuart Vevers gave us soft, buttery leather in neutral colours. For Fall 2012 it was black, black and more black, with a tough edge, a lot of attitude, whilst still staying true to the brand’s heritage.

Stuart described the Loewe woman as noble and aristocratic. He explained that black was heavily featured as he felt it gave the collection a feeling of strength and boldness.

We saw sumptuous coats and jackets in many guises, fur with leather trims, wool with leather pockets, bi-colour haircalf and wool jackets, boxy leather coats with pocket details, shearling-lined capes and a surprising addition of bomber jackets which I loved as it gave the collection a more easy off-the-cuff feel and a youthful touch.

Leather skirts – some with laser cut details, some textured and some pleated –were presented alongside nappa leather pleated dresses and wool separates and silk dresses.

In a sea of black, there were pops of baby pink, navy blue and dark brown.

Key accessories were the lizard wedges (I loved the pink ones), and of course the bags.

The standouts for me were the ‘Arco Baroque’ bag, the pink-lizard ‘Amazona’ clutch and the ‘Amazona Baroque 35’ bag.

Loewe Spring 2012

Before the Loewe Spring 2012 presentation I was invited backstage for a sneak peek and to meet the designer behind the Spanish brand, Stuart Vevers.

Stuart believes being British works to his advantage as he is constantly finding inspiration from his new base in Madrid.

For Spring 2012 he was inspired by Spanish architecture to create the tiled prints. He wanted the prints to feel luxurious, so each garment has a different print, despite this being an expensive process.

Stuart showed me the leather pieces which are very light and soft while the jackets are reversible with suede on the inside.

Other leather pieces have cut-out details, prints, perforations or added chiffon details in order to keep them fresh and interesting.

Stuart showcased gorgeous feminine silhouettes on a colour palette of terracotta, sea blue, ash grey, navy and gold.

Ladylike fitted suede dresses, sophisticated pencil skirts, jackets, coats and blouses made up this very elegant collection.

Key accessories included platform shoes and, of course, gorgeous bags. We saw perforated shoulder bags, luxurious leather totes and wristlet clutches.

Models wore their hair sleek straight behind their ears with smoky eyes and a dark red lip colour.
