Red Carpet Fashion Awards

HBO’s ‘Game Change’ premiered in New York City last night, with Julianne Moore, who plays Sarah Palin in the movie, front and centre at the Ziegfeld Theatre.

The actress wore a Lanvin black-and-white dress custom made by Alber Elbaz.

Many of you have been cursing the Julianne Moore / Lanvin collaboration since its inception, whilst I’ve liked a few looks but this one isn’t doing anything for me, or Julianne sadly.

The look feels a bit drab, even with the inclusion of the two-tone green-and-blue Lanvin ‘Red Passion’ lacquer minaudiere.

I think the look would have worked better as a solid colour because I’m not fond of the ivory skirt.

The rest of her accessories included a gold chain Lanvin bracelet and Bugarli jewels with a chic updo and pink lip colour completing her look.

Fab or drab?

There are two things I don’t think I’ve ever said in the same sentence before: Roberto Cavalli and Julianne Moore.

The actress donned a Roberto Cavalli dark blue gown to the amfAR New York Gala to kick off Fall 2012 Fashion Week last night.

She didn’t opt for the ‘typical sexy’ Cavalli gown; instead she selected this long-sleeve jersey gown which fits her no-fuss style perfectly.

Matte red lips, a Bottega Veneta black intrecciato satin clutch and side-swept flame-red hair completed her look.

Julianne Moore upstaged starlets half her age at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards tonight.

The actress wore a black strapless Chanel Couture Fall 2011 gown with subtle, ruffled layers.

Her gown is hugely improved without the collar.

Julianne added a pop of colour to the look with gorgeous emerald Bulgari tassel earrings.

Her signature red hair was swept over one shoulder in true bombshell form.

Many of you who had grown tired of her wearing Lanvin. It looks like she finally listened and as a result this is one of her best ever red carpet looks to date.

The message many of you gave to Julianne Moore yesterday was, “Lanvin doesn’t work for you” – but judging by what she wore to the unveiling of Waterford Premier Interiors Collection at ‘Live a Crystal Life’ at Center 548 in New York City last night – she ain’t listening.

The actress donned yet another Lanvin dress, this time a ribbed wool dress with artful silk-gazar puffy sleeves from the Fall 2011 collection.

There is something about her persistence I admire, but this dress isn’t doing her any favours.

The words boxy and unflattering immediately spring to mind, with dull and uninspiring following.

I don’t like that the sleeves have lost their fizz off the runway.

Julianne Moore was in attendance at the 2012 Pirelli Calendar gala dinner in New York City on Tuesday evening.

The actress was oozing glamour wearing a Lanvin two-tone dress from the Pre-Fall 2011 collection.

A black velvet bodice and billowing sheer sleeves make for the most luxurious winter combination we can imagine.

The real beauty, though, is in the details.

One oversized shoulder gives the dress just a touch of structure to offset the otherwise very basic shape.

Industrial-like metal Lanvin cuffs add a modern element that plays well with strappy metallic Lanvin heels, but the bronze serpent chain sandals themselves are overly fussy.

What are all those things hanging off the straps?

An elegant updo and a Lanvin beige serpent minaudiere complete the look.
