‘Insurgent’ New York Premiere Menswear Roundup

'Insurgent' New York Premiere Menswear Roundup

In addition to the group of lovelies at the ‘Insurgent’ New York premiere, the guys were out in force at the Ziegfeld Theater on Monday (March 16) in New York City.

Miles Teller: Looking ever so dapper, the actor wore a Ralph Lauren Purple Label three-piece blue suit with a patterned tie and contrasting Christian Louboutin shoes. While the silhouette is a more formal one, the suit’s slight denim look keeps it fresh and youthful—and perfect for Miles.

Theo James: Also going the three-piece route, Theo made a less impressive effort, as I found his dark brown Dolce & Gabbana suit, buttoned-up vest, and navy satin tie to be more prom-appropriate than red-carpet-ready.

Ansel Elgort: I have to applaud this young stud for breaking out of the sartorial norm with his likewise denim-inspired Prada suit with exposed, visible stitching. Paired with a midnight-navy tie and lighter-blue shirt, it was a mod statement look that he certainly worked to his advantage.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Here is a quick roundup of some of the men who have taken to the red carpet on this very quiet week.

Richard Madden: The ‘Game of Thrones’ actor, who is Prince Charming to Lily James’ Cinderella, joined his co-star on the red carpet for the LA premiere on Sunday (March 1). He wore Dolce & Gabbana with fine details that make this tuxedo suit the flawless epitome of black-tie elegance, but it’s the blue eyes that really draw you in.

Dev Patel: The British actor attended ‘The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ premiere held at the Ziegfeld Theater on Tuesday (March 3) in New York City. I love Dev for never opting for the classic, expected look. Like David Oyelowo, Dev is not afraid of colour or experimenting with different fabrications. On this occasion he wore a Salvatore Ferragamo tan corduroy notched-lapel suit, which on paper doesn’t appeal but in real life exemplifies the essence of sartorial dressing. This look did make me chuckle as it reminded me of the ‘Sex And The City’ episode where Steve asks Miranda, “What’s wrong with corduroy?” to which she replies, “I don’t have enough time to tell you what’s wrong with corduroy.” Dev proves that statement wrong.

Men 25 Feb

Between premieres and the Elle Style Awards, there was a lot of man candy on the red carpet last night.

Will Smith: Looking as sharp as ever, the actor joined his wife Jada Pinkett Smith on the red carpet for the ‘Focus’ LA premiere wearing a striped three-piece suit working a divine combo of navy and lilac.

Lewis Hamilton: The Formula 1 racing driver wore a rich burgundy suit from Marni’s Spring 2015 collection, taking styling notes from Tinie Tempah and opting for cropped trousers that showed off his Cesare Casadei black moccasins. I’m not sure if this looks cool or comical. Cool from the calves up methinks.

2015 Oscars & Vanity Fair Party Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Oscar men

The men were out in force at the 2015 Oscars and the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, where there was plenty of handsome inspiration to go around from a fine group of fellows.

Jared Leto: Getting the evening started on a non-traditional note, the actor and musician was every bit the unorthodox Academy Awards dresser in his baby-blue Givenchy tux, accented by a white bowtie and white lug sole shoes. He let his hair down literally and made no excuses for it, saying that the Oscars was his going-away party for his locks. I wonder if the beard was also included in that party. While no one could pull this off like Jared, between the mane and the male pastels, this was verging on almost too much too handle.

Chris Pine: A stark contrast to Jared, Chris went for the all-out traditionally classic route and suited up in a Giorgio Armani black double-breasted peak-lapel tuxedo. It was impeccable and goes to show what transformative power a well-tailored tux can have.

David Oyelowo: Looking as if he was inspired by the red carpet itself, the ‘Selma’ actor dressed to impress in a crimson Dolce & Gabbana three-piece tuxedo word with #TackleEbola handcrafted pin by Jason of Beverly Hills. He does a great job pulling off this colour, yet I’m not completely sold on the satiny look of the vest and bowtie underneath.

2015 Oscars Couples

2015 Oscars plus ones

This post is dedicated to those gorgeous plus-ones on Oscar night, who should never be left in the shade.

Sophie Hunter: The pregnant wife of Benedict Cumberbatch looked breathtaking in her custom Lanvin red one-shoulder gown with brass beading. The vivid colour was only heighted when she stood alongside Benedict in his stark white tuxedo blazer. While oozing femininity, her gold Lanvin accessories and drop earrings helped made this quite a strong, powerful look. She’s slowly becoming my favourite plus-one. Sorry, Camila Alves.

Hannah Bagshawe: The British couple both wore navy Alexander McQueen. Eddie Redmayne wore a Bespoke navy tuxedo with black velvet slippers to collect his Best actor awards, while she wore a navy chiffon embroidered gown with embellished feather belt styled with a gold McQueen ‘Clutch Me’ clutch.
