‘Deadpool 2’ London Fan Screening

Ryan Reynolds, Zazie Beetz and Josh Brolin were in London yesterday (May 10), for the ‘Deadpool 2’ fan screening held at the Empire Casino Leicester Square.

Ryan Reynolds: The actors refined aesthetic really comes to the fore in this Brunello Cucinelli dark grey suit. This could’ve come off run-of-the-mill had it not been for the striped double breast waistcoat and contrast navy tie.

Zazie Beetz: The actress loves to experiment when it comes to fashion, and there was a quite a fēsta going on with this look. I love the mirrored detailing on her Miu Miu Collection dress. This would’ve been detailed enough for some, but Zazie’s personality really comes out to play with the floral hair accessories and Jimmy Choo ‘Caroline’ mules. It may be a bit cray cray for some, but she has the personality to pull it off and I’m totally charmed by it all.

Josh Brolin: On the opposite of the side of the spectrum, Josh played it safe in all black Brioni.

Gucci Wooster SoHo Opening

On Saturday (May 5), Gucci hosted a private event to celebrate Gucci Wooster, its first ever presence in SoHo, New York. The celebration saw many stylish attendees bring out bold looks for the occasion.

Rihanna: The singer never falls to come up with inventive combinations and this was no exception. She used the opportunity to showcase a top and bra from her Savage x Fenty lingerie line by styling it with Gucci Fall 2018. There are a multitude of references but the cool mash-up is unmistakably her.

Jared Leto: As a lover of head-turning looks and as someone who has openly embraced Gucci’s more-is-more aesthetic, he showed his fashion-forward credentials in Fall 2018. It’s loud, colourful, zany and you cannot help but grin when you see it.

‘Fahrenheit 451’ New York Premiere

The ‘Fahrenheit 451’ New York premiere on Tuesday (May 8) featured some bold fashion statements.

Tessa Thompson: The ‘Westworld’ actress was yet another one to fall for the spell of an unlined Christian Dior dress. I’m sure many are bored of the revealing skirts. Just taking into account her outfit, there was an intriguing mood with the play of the prim collared style with the black undergarments. The dusty purple frock with rich burgundy shoes was unexpected but most striking.

Michael B. Jordan: The actor looked dashing in Ermenegildo Zegna Couture. The subtle sheen and night sky blue of the suit were debonair. The touches of black added to the sharp finish, but the roll neck is making it veer towards being too wintery.

Sofia Boutella: Another one in a sheer style, she was clad in Alberta Ferretti Fall 2018. On the runway, the lighting didn’t make it look quite so naked, but on the red carpet we see just how revealing it is. It feels better suited to a performance piece.

2018 Met Gala Menswear Roundup

The men always have a bit more of a challenge when it comes to thematic dress, but here’s how they did at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City.

Virgil Abloh: Right out of the gate, I loved seeing Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director of Men’s Collections wearing this preview of the upcoming Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2019 men’s collection. Bonus points that the creamy-white design played to the theme—with an urban twist in the sneakers.

Andrew Garfield: The actor introduced the thematic, crimson-red hue via this lush velveteen Tom Ford tuxedo.

Jared Leto: If there would be anyone to fully dress to theme, it would be Jared. In head-to-toe Gucci, he flaunted this custom design that offered up his interpretation of a saintly crown paired with priestly embroidered panels. The flamboyant suit itself we could have likely seen him in any day of the week.

Chadwick Boseman In Versace – 2018 Met Gala

Normally, we save the menfolk for their own roundup, but as per usual, Chadwick Boseman was back at it with another superlative look at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City; one that was worthy of its own dedicated post.

No better choice than Versace on an evening such as this, as Donatella Versace was a co-host and the label’s cross motif was made for the religiously focused theme.

I always love a cape, so I’ve been going crazy over the caped looks tonight. But, it’s a rare occasion that we see one worn in menswear—and worn so magnificently.

Leave it to Chadwick.

2018 GLAAD Media Awards

A range of stars were in attendance at the 2018 GLAAD Media Awards, which were held over the weekend on Saturday (May 5) in New York City.

Lea Michele: The newly engaged star had her own fairy-tale moment in this Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2018 dress that provided a modern translation on princess glamour with the glinting, metallic bodice and shortened ball skirt. A braided updo was naturally the only way to complete the picture.

Tommy Dorfman: Never one to not push the envelope just a bit, Tommy matched his hair to his aubergine Calvin Klein Spring 2018 suit with more unorthodox detailing attributed to the singular panel detail on the white tank.

Alexis Bledel: I think what enchanted me most about Alexis’ J. Mendel Spring 2018 dress was how its shimmery aqua hue fully enhanced her striking eyes and fuchsia lip. More metallics came into play with her Emm Kuo clutch and silver Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Zaha’ sandals to top off the look that also had a cinematic, vintage flair.
