Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark In Jesper Høvring – 2014 Bambi Awards

Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark In Jesper Høvring - 2014 Bambi Awards

Following Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge’s lacklustre showing on the red carpet last night (November 13), I was delighted to see Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark attend the 2014 Bambi Awards in Berlin, Germany with Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark.

I could only dream that the Duchess would dress like this for red carpet events.

Mary looked absolutely breathtaking wearing a sparkling blue peplum gown with a draped shoulder created by Danish designer Jesper Høvring.

Now this is what a princess should look like: chic, radiant, awe-inspiring and, more importantly, oozing a timeless elegance.

Her styling couldn’t have been more perfect, with a satin blue clutch and aquamarine girandole earrings, rounding out the look with an elegant chignon and pretty pink lips.

    Oh, my! This is flawless.

Stunning – Mary has really nailed her personal style and is consistently elegant, modern yet timeless, youthful yet appropriate – not easy to get all that right at the same time. I love that she and Frederick are holding hands and she looks so at ease. The midnight blue sequins are gorgeous on her and I believe she wears it better than the model.

Wow! She looks amazing. It’s very rare for a royal to look chic, modern and ‘appropriate’ but Mary manages it every time. I really love her style – if possible, it would be great to see her featured a little more here.

    FLAWLESS

  6. Dhppy November 14, 2014 at 18:24 #

Wonderful! No other royal has her fashion sense.

Come to think of it, have we ever seen the Duchess in sequins? Anyway, Mary looks breathtaking, love the pink lip with this.

Beautiful, flawless, perfection, she makes it look more sophisticated with her presentation than on the runway. Thought it was Elie Saab at first.

Same here, it’s so perfect it looks like one of his designs

  9. gabis November 14, 2014 at 16:20 #

Needless to say it’s a flawless look. But I prefer the dress with the minimalist styling from the runway.

I can’t even imagine how much pearl clutching would happen with the old guard if the Duchess dared to expose a shoulder.

    • Tara November 14, 2014 at 15:18 #

Really?? She has worn plenty of strapless gowns with noone objecting- the black veelvet McQ , and the pale mint green with straps for eg

    • Maria C. November 14, 2014 at 16:23 #

The Queen used to wear strapless and spaghetti strap gowns when she was young. Especially during the 50’s. I’m pretty sure there is no problem here.

      • kane November 14, 2014 at 17:54 #

The problem isn’t the shoulders… it’s the showing of legs hehe. Which is a shame if you have a pair such as the Duchess’s.

As for the Crown Princess: wow! Even by her standards.

Mary is always amazing, elegant, chic, regal! Incredible outfit!!!

She is, in my opinion, one of the best dressed Royals. Queen Máxima is great, but tends to overdo it sometimes or gets it wrong with the proportions or the fit (especially her day looks). Queen Letizia is also great and always chic, but her style is sometimes underwhelming or lacks the wow factor. But Princess Mary’s style is consistently great. She dares to take a risk and always looks stylish and classy.

    • Penny November 14, 2014 at 20:19 #

      + 100!

    • molly November 14, 2014 at 21:38 #

Completely agree! Maxima has a very distinct style that no one else could pull off besides her, but not everything always works. I love Letizia’s tailored look, but as you said, it usually comes off as underwhelming, but Mary is almost always perfection. Her style is classic and she accessorizes to perfection. This look is beyond stunning, I’m praying that she wears it again but with a tiara!
I really wish that more American celebrities would take notice of Hovring’s designs. He makes beautiful clothes and its really too bad that no one really wears him aside from Danish and German stars.
