Sarah Paulson In Armani Privé – 2014 Emmy Awards

Sarah Paulson In Armani Privé - 2014 Emmy Awards

There was no missing Sarah Paulson when she walked onto the red carpet at the 2014 Emmy Awards on Monday (August 25) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

The ‘American Horror Story: Coven’ star and lead actress nominee worked an Armani Prive Fall 2014 design that certainly was one of the more striking pieces of the night.

It’s a ‘love it or hate it’ gown that maintained the dark, gothic sensibility that we are accustomed to seeing Sarah wear, but taken to another level with the extravagant flurry of red-dotted netting that encircled the dress.

Lorraine Schwartz cocktail rings flashed through all the cluster of mesh, while her straight bob and nude makeup contributed a more down-to-earth spin for this fuzzy creation.

Hairy-scary or haute?

    Involuntary gasp. LOOOOOVE IT

    • Magdalena August 26, 2014 at 19:15 #

      Me too

  2. dea August 26, 2014 at 04:35 #

This dres IS American Horror Story. It competes with Lena Dunham’s look. Looks like blood drops caught in a spider web. I really hate it.

    • Denise August 26, 2014 at 09:01 #

Totally agree. Your comment is spot on!

      • Christine August 26, 2014 at 11:02 #

Lmao! Love this comment. Agreed WFW.

        • Larissa August 26, 2014 at 12:22 #

I’m laughing so hard, you are 100% right! I can’t think of one single reason to pick this scary mess of a dress out of the billion other ones she had access to..

  3. Nat39 August 26, 2014 at 04:37 #

A frothy mess. Save it for Halloween, at least she ditched the veil.

    • Nat39 August 26, 2014 at 04:43 #

…and the hairstyle feels out of tune.

  4. sophie August 26, 2014 at 04:38 #

LOVE IT. This is the Sarah I love- not twee but sophisticated femininity.

  5. Malinda Jane August 26, 2014 at 04:38 #

I absolutely love it. She has the personality to carry this dress. She’s the best.

  6. Renata August 26, 2014 at 04:40 #

I absolutely LOVE this. It’s almost a work of art, so beautiful.

    • Fiona-Brasil August 26, 2014 at 09:57 #

      +1

The dress is gorgeous and absolutely lust-worthy – but not for Sarah! Her hair is also in direct conflict with the dress, don’t like this on her at all.

  8. Alina August 26, 2014 at 05:28 #

I think it works for her!

  9. Spencer August 26, 2014 at 05:39 #

    Slay, just stunning.

  10. Chantal August 26, 2014 at 05:49 #

I love this gown on her. It’s definitely my favourite of the night.

  11. Hauteness August 26, 2014 at 06:08 #

This was definitely one of my faves of the night. It was breathtaking in video. The still photo really doesn’t do it justice!

  12. Rachel August 26, 2014 at 06:16 #

    Gorgeous! Haute, without a doubt!
Also, in relation to the ‘twee-esque’ gowns she generally wears, it feels like a playful inverse. The laces tend to cling toward her and her body, whereas this ecstatically reaches outward. Spectacular.

  13. Dhppy August 26, 2014 at 06:46 #

It looks like it needs to be shaved. I think Lena Dunham and Laura Prepon wanted the Worst Dressed trophy just a little more than she did.

  14. Peony August 26, 2014 at 07:34 #

Her hair and makeup lets down this fabulous frock.

  15. Marcel August 26, 2014 at 07:59 #

” it is a love or hate gown”… I take the 2nd option then.
I am sure I had seen a very close, more saccharine version of this dress at Oscar de la Renta years ago.

  16. Valissa August 26, 2014 at 08:22 #

Surprisingly I love it! It’s fun and edgy yet still chic. She’s got the confidence to pull it off. Great look!

  17. Katarzyna August 26, 2014 at 09:03 #

Spectacular! And I much prefer this to the dozens of pretty but boring dresses everyone will quickly forget. This is the gown to be talked about!

  18. grace August 26, 2014 at 10:01 #

I like it because it’s different and she seems to behaving a lot of fun in it.

  19. Caro Chanel August 26, 2014 at 11:53 #

The dress had a lot of potential and I’m sure someone like Chloé Moretz or Elle Fanning would have worked the hell out of it but it doesn’t look right on Sarah especially with her hair basically being undone. The dress needs drama which she does not deliver.

    • dee August 26, 2014 at 13:23 #

      I agree.

    • TeaAtTwo August 27, 2014 at 22:32 #

      + 2 I actually like the dress.

  20. liz August 26, 2014 at 12:22 #

Loved this dress on the runway and LOOOOOVED it yesterday. BEst dressed of the night.

  21. Sonya Kukula August 26, 2014 at 15:05 #

That severe bob is far too utilitarian for this work of art of a dress.

  22. sanette August 26, 2014 at 15:43 #

I loved it on the runway and I love it on Sarah too. She has the perfect attitude to pull this off. One of my favourites of the night.

  23. Parvati August 26, 2014 at 17:27 #

It’s different from the usual twee dresses we see her wear and she looks good in it, so yeah, I think it’s a good look!

  24. marie August 26, 2014 at 18:10 #

I’m deeply in love with this gown, I’m a huge fan of extraordinary fashion and I guess I would’ve worn it too.
But sadly it doesn’t really work for her. Her hairstyle makes her face even more slender than it already is an that makes a strange contrast with the voluminous gown. It’s really a pity, cause she styled it so well…

  25. pipsqueak August 26, 2014 at 19:19 #

This is actually my favorite of all best-dressed nominees. A winner for me! I love it – dark, whimsical and different. Her simple, sleek hair offset the crazy potential and stopped the look from becoming a Helena Bonham Carter joke.

  26. amy August 26, 2014 at 19:48 #

I love it. fun and original

  27. DivaDebbi (Beauty and Fashion blog) August 26, 2014 at 21:39 #

Dress up time in Nana’s attic…I really never care for anything she wears.

  28. mg August 27, 2014 at 02:15 #

Amazing dress! wish she had worn her hair up, but this look is stunning nevertheless
