Karlie Kloss In Valentino – ‘Grace of Monaco’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony

Karlie Kloss In Valentino - ‘Grace of Monaco’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony

Karlie Kloss took to the red carpet for the ‘Grace of Monaco’ premiere, which also served as the opening ceremony of the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival this evening (May 14) in France.

The model has a great runway walk, but her red carpet game has never impressed me.

Case in point, she’s aged by this Valentino Spring 2014 tri-colour lace gown by several years.

Just because it’s sheer, doesn’t make it sexy.

File this under ‘What were you thinking?’ and quite possibly WDOTN.

Chopard Green Carpet Collection jewels and flat sandals completed her look.

This Valentino dress would look amazing on Anne Hathaway, Keira Knightley, Florence Welch and Diane Kruger… But definitely not Karlie.. She made it look so cheap.

  • Karen

Those sandals are so wrong! I am so baffled as to why on earth she would pick to wear those Cochella-style hippie sandals with a Valentino gown on the red carpet at the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival.

    • Jess2

      Yes!!!

  • C

This dress (slightly modified) has been worn before by Mamie Gummer at the Vanity Fair Oscar’s party…it hasn’t improved.

  • firien

Oh my God, she’s wearing my grandmother’s lace curtain.
It’a amazing how wrong she’s wearing this dress. And those shoes?! Like she’s just off the beach.

  • Daisy

I am so tired of her. Her toothy grin. Nothing dramatic of her face. Please go away. This Valentino collection was not red carpet ready. Great craftsmanship but a bit lacking on the red carpet

  • Alex

So disappointed given that I am a huge fan of her.

  • EmmaWoodhouse

    Horrid, utterly.

  • Kate

I don’t like this dress at all on Karlie; although the back isn’t bad. I’m also confused as to why she paired it with those flat sandals!

  • Lila

This is beautiful and I love the flat sandals with it. I think all the styling is perfect. My problem is with her which is odd considering. She needed a clutch to keep her hands off of her hips. In all of the pictures of her moving, everything about this look is gorgeous.

  • Valissa

I actually love this dress. It’s gorgeous on the runway and in the Valentino ad campaign for that collection. But she has no right to be wearing it! Especially with her posing as if she’s wearing Herve Leger!
It needed somebody demure, mature and sophisticated to wear. I’m disappointed to say the least..

    • Fiona-Brasil

      +1

    • Emily

      +1,
the dress itself is not so much a disaster. It is the posing that baffles me. I can imagine the likes of Keira Knightley or Diane Kruger pulling such a dress off without even trying.

      • StarGirlTingTing

        +1

and I absolutely agree with you Emily. Karlie just looks like a complete fool here…it’s almost like “OH LOOK AT ME! I’M AMAZEBALLS”

  • Lee Ann

wow even she can’t make this work absolutely hideous

  • amy

I can’t deal with how ugly this is. I’m shocked (not in a good way)

  • Very ugly.

  • Maria S.

I think that what completely ruins this looks is her posing, which is weird, considering she is a model. If you check some of the pictures of her ascending the stairs, she looks gorgeous and effortless. Those were the first ones that I saw, and I was so excited to see the whole thing. Weird, isn’t Karlie supposed to know better?

  • Camille

Didn’t care for this on the runway (not a fan of this collection) and it’s even worse on the red carpet. Not only is the design ugly, the eggplant purple color is hideous on her. The teal insets are jarring and the whole thing is just a mess of ugly lace.

  • neli

    Bad. Not fan.

  • Christine

This is a huge contender of WDOTY!!!!! Wtf is this????

  • lala

    what WDOTN means?

    • Christine

      Worst dress of the night

  • Prudence

WOWOWOWWOW, this might be worst than Laetitia’s look. I am going to pretend I never saw this

  • Moxie

Who looked at that dress on the runway and thought “I want to wear that!”? Definitely WDOTN and a contender for WDOTY.

  • Carrie
    • yes, very

      • StarGirlTingTing

Oh wow. She’s got all my votes for WDOTY…how is she a model (and not know how to present clothes)!?!?!

  • Joy

Absolutely horrendous. I don’t know how you can be a model and look this bad at Cannes.

  • Krystal

This to ugly so old for her it’s gorgeous for Helen miren

  • Carrie

As a model, I LOVE her. And she is always on point. But on the red carpet, not so much. Funny how that can be.

    • TL

Hideous dress. Whoever her stylist is should be fired.

  • Nat39

    Drab, dowdy, cheap-looking halloween costume.

  • Lashae

    Hideous

  • dee

Oh no, this is beyond awful.

  • Yeliz

    No.

    • Mandy

      +1

  • Alina

It’s sad when a model doesn’t know how to present an outfit.

    • Maria

Exactly!! This dress calls for a demure pose and definitely no toothy smile.

  • kane

Now that came out of the left field.

  • Charlotte

    Awful !
It looks like an old curtain.

  • from-chitown

Eeks – no!! Do not like it even one bit. This is not fit for Cannes at all. It looks very cheap to me.
