Jena Malone In Valentino – ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ New York Premiere

Jena Malone In Valentino - 'The Hunger Games Catching Fire' New York PremiereJena Malone attended the New York City premiere of ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,’ held on Wednesday night at AMC Lincoln Square Theatre.

She’s had a number of sheer and sizzling looks thus far. But she exchanged the fire for more of a low and slow smolder this time out, with a white and grey, fit-and-flare frock from the Valentino Fall 2013 collection.

There was classic, austerely graceful quality to this structured dress that danced the line between charming sweetness and restrained, schoolgirl-sexy appeal. Skipping the runway’s featured necklace, she accessorized with a Valentino metallic-silver box clutch and matching grey platform Casadei pumps, relying on her coral-pink pout to provide the punch of colour.

By painting on an exaggerated, smokey cat eye, paired with the artsy swoop of an edged-up ‘do, Jena added some of her own personality to finish the look.

Best look I have seen from her so far

  2. Teri November 21, 2013 at 21:37 #

    She made it Edgy! Love!

This actually is the only look I like from her so far! It’s also a suprise for me but I like the shoes!!!

  4. Nat39 November 21, 2013 at 18:28 #

This look works so perfectly for her, I’m 100% sold.

I love this. The look is all about contrasts–the dress is sexy but schoolgirlish as you say, and the shoes are conservative and edgy at the same time. I think her styling is perfect and this is the best look of the tour for her in my opinion.

More a Church Dress than a Premiere Dress. Wish she’d worn something a bit more evening.

This look is not what I expect from her actually, but suits her so well that is impossible not to love.

I love it. Love it all. I’m seeing a contemporary twist on Kim Novak’s unattainable suited femme fatale in Vertigo.

A dress with potential, let down by the accessories. Not her worst look on this tour (Toronto’s a strong contender for that award), but would have to grow on me.

I am actually really liking the shoes! To me the pointy toes prevent them from looking too chunky, and to me the shoes and clutch make the look.

  11. Alina November 21, 2013 at 05:52 #

I like the dress, but I think she could’ve done a better job with the styling.

I actually quite like the shoes, they’re an unexpected choice and Jena makes them work!

That said, this look is missing something for me, I can’t quite put my finger on it. Perhaps a little sparkle?

    • easyBlake November 21, 2013 at 05:45 #

Yes, I love this look, but for me, I’m missing the necklace!

      • kane November 21, 2013 at 10:52 #

That’s it for me too. I love the presentation on the runway.

    • the ogre November 21, 2013 at 15:48 #

I love this look too. But the only thing she’s missing is the necklace! I so wish she had worn it because everything else is just perfect. It’s my favourite look from her so far apart from the Monique Lhuillier gown she wore to the London Premiere.

It’s her best look so far (in my opinion)

    • Denise November 21, 2013 at 09:18 #

I agree. She is the best dressed in this premiere IMO.

        + 1

I actually like all of this look including the shoes. I wouldn’t mind a necklace though like the model or a bracelet however.
She kind of reminds me of Evan Rachel Wood here.

  15. Cindy November 21, 2013 at 03:40 #

I love this! Best she has looked in awhile.

  16. Prudence November 21, 2013 at 02:55 #

this dress needed great styling and she failed on that.

  17. Mandy November 21, 2013 at 02:53 #

She’s giving this sophisticated look an edge which i really like, however the shoes are a touch bulky for me.

  18. Michaela November 21, 2013 at 02:27 #

I love her in this dress! I like the austere/sexy vibe of it, and her hair and makeup set it all off beautifully.

    • Yeliz November 21, 2013 at 08:27 #

      I agree.

I agree plus I am obsessed for those shoes

    • Sleepless in Chicago November 23, 2013 at 03:28 #

Agree. I love the combination of the minimalist innocent look with a certain “From Russia with Love” sense of danger.

    • KatieKate November 23, 2013 at 23:04 #

+5! THIS is my very favorite look of hers from this whole tour. I think the hair took it to the next level for me. And for once, I am loving the platform pumps. Didn’t think I would ever type those words… Superb, Ms. Malone!

  19. Christine November 21, 2013 at 02:04 #

The dress is not bad but I am not liking the shoes.
