Rooney Mara In Christian Dior – ‘Ain’t Them Bodies Saints’ Cannes Film Festival Photocall

Rooney Mara In Christian Dior - 'Ain't Them Bodies Saints' Cannes Film Festival Photocall

Rooney Mara attended the ‘Ain’t Them Bodies Saints’ photocall during Cannes Film Festival at the Palais des Festivals in France this evening.

The actress wore a Christian Dior Fall 2013 ensemble which features a pale grey bi-coloured silk cape with rose silk bustier and navy-blue denim wool skirt.

It’s the look that inspired Jennifer Lawrence’s evening gown which she wore earlier this evening.

Observing both looks, I think each actress made the right choice to suit their individual styles.

I fear the cape-like detail may have overwhelmed Jennifer whereas Rooney’s style prowess ensured she pulled the look off with ease.

Like Carey Mulligan, Rooney can’t seem to live without her Brian Atwood ‘Aida’ sandals at the moment.

Kohl-rimmed eyes and a super slick back bun completed her look.

Very chic look, though I do think it looks a tad too big on her. There’s something about the draping that’s just a little bit off.

      Agreed.
You may be right about the size being too large.

Yeah, I love it on the runway, but it looks a bit sad and droopy on her. It’s a shame because I think she could have worked the look.

I’m sick of those sandals on both Carey and Rooney.

Nay, she is not selling it to me, she looks awkward and uncomfortable, and I think I´m getting a minor black-and-white fatigue at the moment.

…and I would´ve liked a red lippie to brighten it up (instead of accenting the eyes), it all feels so severe.

On the model there was a dynamic flow to the draping that really appealed to me. On Rooney the execution isn’t perfect but I do like the overall look. It’s very “her.”

I love her hair and makeup, but other than that this look has little to offer. I liked her last minimalist look because it was vibrant and modern despite being black/white, but this just looks too much like office wear for me. The ensemble also looks more voluminous on the runway, so the drama of the piece was lost in translation. I like the idea of it, and in fact I’m in love with the top, but she didn’t make it have enough of an impact. Perhaps adding some bright lip color would’ve lifted this look from secretary to Cannes.

    This girl is perfect!

I like it, even if there’s something I dislike about the fabric of the skirt, it looks heavier than the runway.

fC I am confused I am not doubting you but on the runway the top looked white not pale blue and the skirt was silk satin. Is this a different look?

Dior said it was pale grey, but it does look white.

Looks like she tucked her napkin in to her neck and skirt.
