Marion Cotillard In Christian Dior Couture – 2013 Met Gala

Marion Cotillard In Christian Dior Couture - 2013 Met Gala

French beauty Marion Cotillard wore head to toe Christian Dior with Chopard jewels to the Met Gala.

Her asymmetrically hemmed Spring 2013 gown is a fun choice with its peek-a-boo yellow lining and monochromatic nudes, but it doesn’t feel quite right for the Met Ball. I’m thinking this would be much more appropriate at a slightly less formal event.

I do love that she paired these houndstooth ankle-strapped pumps with this dress–an unexpected combination, and a definite pop of punk–but it still doesn’t quite scream Met Ball to me.

Marion’s barely there makeup and 40s-inspired curls are the perfect compliment for this look, but I’m still feeling underwhelmed. Especially after seeing the other Dior-adorned star at tonight’s event.

Lovely. I especially love the hair and makeup and the shoes.

Love the shoes, and the yellow detail… but the rest just falls lame.

she looks great, but i reckon a bit down dressed for the occasion.
and btw just go off topic here,
why there is no post about Naomie Harris? she looks splendid at the gala.

The dress doesn’t suit the occasion. She looked too plain and simple for the event.

……did she get dropped off at the wrong event?? I’m just going to pretend she wasnt even there.

I would like to see Marion try other designers, because I am tired of seeing her every single time using the same type of clothes….Boringggg

  9. Ioana May 7, 2013 at 08:10 #

    Boring, minus the shoes.

Marion in Christian Dior is a big disappointment in 98% of the occasions.

this outfit makes me laugh because its someone being like, yes i will be daring! so they show the slightest bit of awkward coloring in the dress, then they are like, well that just simply isnt enough of daring, nobody will say Im boring with these shoes! and then that just totally ruins the whole boring outfit. wouldve been passable with the vuitton clear yellow cap shoe

    I don’t like the dress.
Plus, nothing is working here, the shoes, the hair and the dress are not working togeher.

Does their (Jennifer’s and hers) contract with Dior specify that only ONE of the two can look good for the same event? It’s awards season all over again…

    • Catherine Kallon May 7, 2013 at 15:25 #

truth and they are becoming the most boring people in fashion right now as a result of their contractual obligations.

Even Mila Kunis appeared to have more freedom than this.

Her 2012 Met Ball look would have been more suited for the them imo.

She is so beautiful. Sigh…nothing punky going on but I don’t care. She’s my girl crush. I am biased.

  15. Jess2 May 7, 2013 at 11:14 #

It doesn’t fit the event and I don’t like the black shoes with the dress.

  16. Amy May 7, 2013 at 12:05 #

The outfit is great, she looks gorgeous but sadly I don’t love it because she totally skipped the theme. What’s the point of having one if everybody seems to forget about it?
    Marion can do better

  17. dee May 7, 2013 at 14:14 #

It may not fit with the theme but she looks gorgeous nonetheless.

Remember that strapless sparkly jumpsuit Marion wore a few years back? That girl could do punk. This is just…lame. I mean, it’s so watered down and she REALLY needs a switch-up from Dior. There, I’ve said it. Disappointed by this.

  19. Moxie May 7, 2013 at 15:32 #

Boring and not remotely on theme.

  20. Liz May 7, 2013 at 19:15 #

    SO DISAPPOINTED IN HER!

  21. Melrose May 7, 2013 at 20:38 #

    Awful fug dress.

Might as well put roller skates on her and call her Zanadu.

  22. Nat39 May 7, 2013 at 22:22 #

One of the most disappointing of the night.

  23. Angela May 8, 2013 at 05:15 #

I seem to be the minority here, but I love the look. It starts out as a boring nude, then blush, and the pop of canary makes it all for me. I am a color blocking sucker. I also love her shoe choice, a pattern was smart, and her retro waves never fail. Maybe not the best of the night, but to me, still noteworthy.
