Julie Bowen In Monique Lhuillier – 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner

Julie Bowen In Monique Lhuillier - 2013 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner

‘Modern Family’ star Julie Bowen was another guest on the who’s who list at last night’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C.

She wore a strapless dress from Monique Lhuillier’s Fall 2013 collection, which was steeped in red-carpet options. I’m just not sure this was one of my favourites.

With the chrome pebbled-brick pattern and high-low hemline, the overall effect felt a bit contrived and overly flashy, especially for this event.

The straight line of the sculpted bodice and the loosely hung silhouette also did no justice to Julie’s figure.

Plain black Rupert Sanderson pumps and Neil Lane jewels completed the look, along with an overly styled updo that managed to age this glowing actress. Perhaps if she had worn her hair down, it would have softened the edges here.

The gown isn’t doing any favours to her body, instead it makes her look like she has no waist. It has an interesting pattern, but thats it. I don’t like her hair either, it ages her.

I was thinking that the dress would be better with the pattern reversed. The small rectangles makes her flat and wide looking up top.

      I agree.

    Not great.

I’m afraid Julie’s normally successful relationship with Monique Lhuillier has done her no favours this time – this is awful on her. She has no shape in this, and the styling does not help. If you are going to have a rise & fall hemline make the shoes worth looking at.

The dress is so unflaterring, especially around the waist. Her hair is not great either.
    A bad look for me.

Not liking this unflattering dress or her hair.

I like the concept of the dress (though it’s been done before; it’s very Paco Robanne-esque) but it’s really ill-fitting. A dress like this needs to have structure for it to work.

The whole look is rather Disco bridesmaid. Not liking it.

The pattern is awfull. Reminds me of a giant crocodile.

The dress had an interesting concept but the hair, make-up and accessories all need to be changed and the waist to be more defined.

I usually like what she wears, but not this time around. The only thing I like here is the earrings.

This dress is an unfortunate choice for her. The way it hangs from just above the waistline removes any hint of said waistline and gives an almost bulbous effect to the torso. The structure of the bodice is harsh and unflattering. In fact, it looks like it could impale her arms.

Not liking the dress at all. And the hair is very reminiscent of the style she wore in Happy Gilmore haha!

The dress is gorgeous but not on her.

  14. Moxie April 29, 2013 at 15:37 #

Even worse than Hayden, if possible. That dress is not flattering her shape at all.

  15. Susan April 29, 2013 at 20:43 #

    I love it.

    Her hair is so matronly.
