Alexander McQueen’s Fall 2013 collection was scaled back to a much smaller show as Sarah Burton is due to give birth to twins any day now.
The show may have only presented 10-pieces, but each pearl encrusted piece with an Elizabethan vibe was breath-taking.
Yes, you guessed it, Cate Blanchett is on my wish list, as is Tilda Swinton.
They will give these pieces the regal air they deserve.

Another boring collection from Sarah. This is so costume like and the silhouettes are always the same. The details are gorgeous, though.

Sarah is MURDERING McQueen? Actually, she worked closely with Lee even back when he was alive and running the brand. They’d supported each other for years and years. So when he died, there was naturally no other candidate for creative director but Sarah.
ITA. I really liked how the clothes were presented but was surprised at how bored I was with the actual pieces themselves. Kinda over the Elizabethan ruffs and furbelows.

I think its better to show 10 great pieces to an array of mediocre ones (hello chanel, although I like some of them a lot, the styling is awfuuul chez chanel)

absolutely breathtaking. I can’t wait for Cate or Tilda to wear one of those pieces. Greaat show. I loved the head pieces.
I agree with Henrique that Sarah always uses the same silhouette and it’s costume like, but it’s a piece of art nonetheless. The pearl details are stunning.
My favourite piece BY FAR came 6th – the grey-black with exaggerated hips and pearls cascading from the shorter skirt in front into the flowing train and also overlay around the chest/shoulders – love a stronger somewhat more modern drama as opposed to it being an overwrought historic costume. I’d like to see Karolina Kourkova doing it justice. (The similar one that came just before it in 5th wasn’t that beautiful in the bust area).
Also like number 8, a magnificent creation.
Don’t really care for the rest, esp. 1st two and last 2 feathered pieces.
