Jennifer Garner stood out from the sea of muted dresses on the red carpet Sunday at the 2013 Oscars held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
The ‘The Odd Life of Timothy Green’ actress wore a custom Gucci gown that looked stunning against her ivory skin.
The actress carried a Roger Vivier clutch and wore Neil Lane jewelry and in a year when most of the stars on the red carpet are taking a simplistic approach to their styling, her $2.5 million worth of jewels and dramatic ruffles evoke the spirit of years past when opulence was more du jour.
I love Jennifer’s brown smokey eyes and slightly messy updo, but her matte nude lips are just begging for at least a little shine.

Not liking this one.
Best use of color for the night. Gorgeous necklace as well.
Yes, i so agree
Agreed. LOVE this.
Barney!!!
You nearly made me spill my wine on my keyboard!
lollllll
HAHAHAHA.
Thank goodness for Jennifer! I love this color on her, and the necklace is absolutely beautiful. The style of the dress would have been better with a ruffled princess skirt, but I can overlook the slightly awkward silhouette because thank goodness for color! Her hair and makeup are flawless here.
Don´t care for all those ruffles, they look silly and randomly attached to me, the lips are way too pale.
Spot on.
+1
This is could be Best Dressed for me…..Jennifer usually wears less than stylish clothes, but here she looks glamorous. I love everything about this look!
She looked so much more radiant at the SAG awards, and sexier at the Golden Globes. This just isn’t doing anything for me – the necklace ages her.
Lovely colour! And I love her hair, makeup, and that gorgeous necklace. Those ruffles are so awkward though.
+1
Luscious color, am dying to see the back of the dress, loving the drama of the ruffles and the jewels. Yes, she totally needed a berry lip and I’m ignoring the clutch, but still! Jennifer Garner, unleashing her inner diva…
Better than most, but the ruffles are slightly distracting.
Love the color!
Great colour but as someone who does not have much of a waist myself I wishes she had chosen a dress that would have given a bit more definition in that area. Otherwise she looks great, it looks better on the tv than in pictures.
The dress looks better from behind. Love the color of the dress, but the lips are much too matte and pale.
Best thing about the dress is the color and that’s about it.
This.
I love the purple but everything else is overkill: the ruffles, the necklace…
From the front, this is a beautiful look, but I’m not liking all those ruffles.
she looked radiant on TV but even i don’t care for the ruffles but the color and that necklace are both breathtakingly beautiful. i’m happy still.
I love how Jennifer takes risk and isn’t boring. The color is refreshing and the style of the dress is lovely especially since it is different then the hundred other gowns. Her makeup and accessories are perfect as well. She has had a great award season.
She is so pulling off this look, one of the best dressed for sure, but I wonder how she managed to sit with all those ruffles.
Quite boring but Jen is no fashion girl so I wasn’t expecting much from her.
Great dress, stunning necklace, but she needed a bit of lipstick. I’m not convinced by the hair, but she looked great, anyway.
too much ruffle for my taste but good for her for taking a fashion risk
the colour really does suit her
great color, but I don’t get what’s going on in the back
I don’t like the dress. Hir, makeup and necklace are lovely.
Finally some color. This year’s Oscars seemed so muted color wise. I love the vibrant color on Jennifer and the gown is lovely. I actually liked the ruffles and thought they looked wonderful as she walked across the stage, tho I don’t know how they were to sit on all night.
Her necklace was stunning tho I’m not 100% sure it was the right choice for this dress. Her hair was soft and lovely. Where I felt she messed up was with her makeup. The uber nude lip seemed to be all the rage this Oscar’s and frankly it left most of the women looking chalky and washed out. I felt Jennifer desperately needed a berry or pink lip color to brighten up her look. The necklace is so grey and the eye makeup so grey and then to pair it with a chalky colorless lip, ugh!
Nude lips are very hard to carry off in real life. Most ‘nude’ lips still need a hint of color to avoid looking chalky. Jennifer would have glowed with a brighter lip color or even a soft rose or pink nude would have been an improvement.
P.S. Tho I did like the gown, I noticed it made her look very flat chested. I would have liked the gown better if it had given her a little more feminine sillouhette.
Great look!
She’s such a timeless beauty. I think I would root for her in a garbage bag. I am just that partial when it comes to Garnier.
Garner*. Ugh.
I looved it, maybe one of my favorites from the whole evening. It’s just a shame you’re not chowing any pictures from the back, which I think are the really interesting part from the dress
Great colour of the dress, although the rffles are not so good, but she had to use a lip gloss..
Fabulous colour amid a sea of vomitous nude/blush. Loved it.
Beautiful color and the dress look excellent in motion.
The dress looked better from behind than front on. I hate the necklace; it’s unnecessary and the lips needed some colour.
She looks gorgeous, the colour is great and I LOVE her hair, makeup and accessories. But the shoes are heavy, the ruffles are weird and I feel like she’s done this type of column gown many many times before.
