Alicia Vikander embraced a minimalist aesthetic at the 2013 BAFTA Awards, held at The Royal Opera House in London on Sunday evening.
While most of us would have expected the BAFTA Rising Star Award nominee to glam it up on the red carpet for the big night, the young Swedish actress chose to keep things relatively restrained.
Alicia wore a black sleeveless round-neck Christian Dior gown with an asymmetrical hem and eye-catching cut-out back detail. She teamed her look with a pair of classic satin pointy-toe pumps and dangling earrings.
This choice may not have been high on impact, but I think this red carpet rising star looked stunning even without the bells and whistles. If I could change anything, it would be to infuse a bit of drama to her hair style.

She is not making this work.
She looks beautiful, I really like this simple look.
She is pretty and there is nothing technically wrong with the look. But it is VERY dull. I’m disappointed.
J’adore , I’m sold on this minimalist look from h2t.
would’ve preferred a sleek low bun, but the ponytail is fine.
I like it. Very simple and chic.
just ok
nothing special, maybe if she wore a more edgy shoe it would have gave the look some wow factor.
I absolutely LOVE this, head to toe.
The dress has so much “architectural” interest that it begs for minimalist styling. Perfect!
Itisso sad that you cannot se in photos the detail of this dress- the corsetry keeps the front very tightbuttheback is beautifully gathered
I actually love this. There’s something so fresh and unique about it. And it suits her natural, un-hollywoodised beauty to a tee. Bravo.
+1
Did Dior just organise a job lot on Alicia and Jennifer Lawrence’s hair? Lazy Dior.
It’s a no for the shoes for me – I love this look, maybe more in a vivid colour like it was presented on the runway, but I still find it cool and chic – I prefer her in Chanel
I really like this look. It’s simple but then it’s not… It has an impact, a good one in my opinion.
She looks nice but I don’t find this look interesting or memorable.
