Carrie Underwood joined many other stars like Heidi Klum and Ginnifer Goodwin who sported high-neck looks on the red carpet for the 2012 American Music Awards on Sunday evening.
The country singer, who was up against Taylor Swift for ‘Favourite Country Female Artist’, wore an Abed Mahfouz Fall 2012 gown.
Her purple sequin cap-sleeve gown with a pattern etched down the front was styled with a gold Jill Milan clutch and rose-gold Jacob & Co. chandelier earrings.
Carrie does delight in this gown, but she should’ve ditched her wavy locks and opted for a slick high bun with this look.

It’s definitely a cool, fun, different look from Carrie (although I think it would be better on Marion Cotillard…or imagine if Kristen S. wore this?) but she needed an updo. Really needed it.
Abed Mahfouz is such a talented designer.
His designs are Elie Saab circa 2007-2009.
I like the gown and the gown on Carrie, but it’s her clutch I have the most problems with.
A slick ‘do would´ve probably been a better choice but she is so delightful in this gown indeed, her pretty wavy locks don´t bother me.
It’s amazes me that she’s only 5’3.
Not a bad look. Love the color and I agree about the hair.
+1
My problem with it is that I don’t really think purple is her color.
ITA I think it looks kinda sickly on her but it’s a lovley dress

i absolutely LOVE this vibrant purple colour on Carrie. SO sick of seeing her in princess gowns with sparkle and tulle.
i agree with the hair – it would’ve looked better if she had put if up. But i don’t necessarily think a “sleek do” would’ve been the best choice. Anything up would’ve sufficed.
What a gorgeous shade of purple! I wish people wore purple more often. But the dress looks so much better on the model than Carrie. And yes, this calls for an updo.
It’s a great look. The dress is fantastic. However, I do find the earrings rather unnecessary and I’m not a fan of her usual “Kim Kardashianish” makeup (aka too much false eyelashes, nude lips and heavily built-up complexion)
I think this look is amazing from head to toe. I don’t mind her hair, I think it looks good.
She’s very much one note – always the same look over and over and over again – Quite boring
It’s okay. Haven’t seen BDoTNight though.
Love the color!
The dress is divine! I agree she would’ve benefit from an updo, but the wavy locks doesn’t bother me. What it does bother me are those earring, which are completely unnecesary. She looks great overall though.
earrings are too much and don’t match, and I much prefer the same lining all the way through like on the model.
Spectacular color, I just don’t think Carrie is tall enough for this gown. It creates such a regal effect on the model, and none of it translates onto Carrie. Also, I agree about her hairdo. Should’ve been pinned back or at least half-up so not all of it is settling at the shoulders. That just looks strange with the high collar IMO.
