While we were focusing on Milan Fashion Week and the Emmys, Natalie Portman debuted a platinum blonde hairdo on the red carpet on Saturday evening while attending Van Cleef & Arpels Dinner for LA Dance Project in LA.
She becomes the latest celeb to fall in love with Raf Simons’ Christian Dior Fall 2012 collection, which was the second Dior Couture dress to hit the red carpet this weekend.
Her floor-length white bustier flower-embroidered gown was styled with Van Cleef & Arpels jewels and a red velvet clutch.
The dress was also styled with hot pink shoes, but only Vogue.com have that picture.
I much prefer the dress on the runway, Natalie doesn’t quite have the height to make it work. The skirt looks a tad deflated on Natalie, which is one of the reasons why it appears longer in length.

This is my favourite dress and taken from the archives. Sadly Natalie is far too little to wear it so it looks silly. They obviously couldn’t hem it –so sad because it is absolutely positively beautiful.
Stunning in the runway, just Ok in her. Still, this would’ve been a greater culise for her wedding dress, I did’t like that one at all.
yes, the wedding dress was awful
On the model the dress says “couture” (as it should), on Natalie it just says “prom”… :/
It seems way to big for her little frame.
yh – just all kinds of wrong
I agree.
personally i think it is ugly on her and stiff.
The dress is wearing her this time. Yes, the runway shot is stunning. I think the shorter length would have worked on Natalie.
All I can see is a big pile of sugar, with more sugar on top.
Looks ridiculous. HATE IT!!!!!!
Blonde looks great on her though.
besides her height, her hair-color also doesnt work with this dress …ugh such a shame..
After seeing the photo in Vogue, I think the problem is that the dress was not adapted for Natalie. What is the waist on the model, it seems to be Natalie’s hips. But I also think the waist is different, flatter in Natalie’s dress. I mean, the problem is not really the dress or Natalie, but a improper fit between them.
Prefer the dress on the model too.
Love her with the blonde hair colour!
The gown looks fabulous on the model, but on Natalie it looks like a wedding gown. That’s sad, because I love her in Dior. Her new hairdo is beautiful though.
I think I am the only one around here who thinks she looks perfect!! I love the dress on her and the new hair color is amazing.
Hisadora you are not alone. I think she looks perfect too!!
+1
“Deflated” describes my mood upon seeing this, too. She looks like a glittery chess piece.
looks fine on her. Jus tlooks like a wedding dress, which makes it lose some of the edge
Beautiful dress but it’s too much for her. I would have loved to see this on Anne Hathaway though.
It’s such a pretty dress, and it is a gown on her, but that’s not too bad. I liked the runway length better but this works OK (it swallows her up a little). Not sure about the hair…she’s always gorgeous but she’s better as a brunette!
I don’t like Natalie with Dior. She’s not the right choice for Dior
I love this collection, I was sure we would have seen often on red carpets, but I prefer the runway length, not because of her height, but because it’s more beautiful. I agree it looks deflated, what a pity, it could be a gorgeous look.
