Jason Wu’s Spring 2013 collection can be summed up in two words: leather and lace.
Iconic supermodel Carolyn Murphy, who opened the show wearing a fitted leather dress with lace panels, was followed by a succession of gorgeous models sporting a braided, marcel wave updo.
Inspired by Helmut Newton’s photography, the mostly black and white collection had pops of coral and blue, which will no doubt delight his celebrity clientele.
The collection was full of Jason’s signature girlie girl looks, but for Spring 2013 Miss Wu will showcase her flirty side.
I’m hoping Miss Lively will select some of the uber-sexy, lingerie-inspired pieces for which the designer collaborated with La Perla.
The collection wasn’t all about feminine and sexy dresses; we also saw black fitted pants lined with lace, a beautiful printed jumpsuit with a cute leather belt with a bow accent, uber hot pants, high-waisted shorts and bralets styled with A-line skirts.
For the red carpet, Jason delivered four gorgeous gowns with sheer skirts, which I’m sure his BFF Diane Kruger will be showcasing on a red carpet soon. I especially loved the navy star print gown.
Key accessories included hatboxes, travel cases and First Lady-esqe top handle bags, some with animal print accents.

The leather and sheer isn’t my thing. Still, there were some great looks and I won’t deny that Diane will look fabulous in that star printed gown.
I always fall instantly in love with Wu’s coections, I love hwo femenine they are, but how there is always impeccable tailoring and it always seems modern and fresh.
I adore the coral pink playsuit with the black straps and belt in particular. In fact, all of my favourite looks were either trousers, shorts or jumpsuits.
I really hope for Blake Lively in some of these outfits, and even more so Leighton Meester, who I always think will suit the Wu aesthetic perfectly.
Diane Kruger/Zoe Saldana + any piece from this collection = PERFECTION!
I could never dislike a Jason Wu collection. But this collection is not my favorite of all Wu collections. I have to say though, that there are some pieces that I really love, so I’m excited to see this collection on the red carpet.
