Nicole Richie attended the 40th annual FiFi Awards at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York City yesterday evening.
The fashion designer wore an Emilio Pucci Spring 2012 dress.
Many of you have expressed your dislike for ‘mullet’ dresses, so how does this black long-sleeve embellished empire-waist dress with a train fair on Nicole?
The dress is so light and delicate that I would’ve preferred it if Nicole had worn less heavy shoes.
Nicole styled the look with a black House of Harlow clutch, MEUS Designs teardrop earrings and wore her hair up in a chic top-knot.
I love the dress, but I’m not crazy about Nicole’s styling of this look.

The dress is beautiful. The styling was a bit harsh, could have been better, also she could have worn her hair down
Yeah your right she made it look kinda naff with the hair and jewels… it woulda looked so hot if it was styled in the runway style, kinda gothic with the crucifix!
I only like the dress on her, not love it and I dislike her styling.
+1
This is a beautiful dress but not for her with her petite frame. It is fabulous on the catwalk, with the right accessories, sandals and super long legs!
Ditto. The dress doesn’t work on her to begin with, leg-elongating sexy sandals would be helpful.
Love the dress, the bag and the hair, bur not the shoes. She looks lovely.
ugh, she killed that dress, she is too short for such dramatic train.
She looks pretty (heavy bangs aside, which I really can’t get on board with), but this stunning gown really deserved to be worn by someone a little higher, so that we could admire that train in all its glory.
This is the exact kind of mullet dress that I don’t like. The skirt is too short in the front and too long in the back, it has too be a subtle mullet to make me like it. Nic’s styling is not so good.
Agree to every word. Don’t like the dress, don’t like the styling. Black pumps…really?
Me too!
I like the dress but her styling like everyone else said is off.
She looks beautiful and carries the dress well. Not a fan of the shoes either.
In the words of Michael Kors via Project Runway……It looks like she is pooping fabric.
I’m fine with mullet dress, sometimes I fine them attractive (like Erin and Rosie’s Antonio Berardi).
Now, I finally declared that those kind of shoes is a shoes for office not for a red carpet.
I think she wore the super-high hair in hopes of giving the illusion of being taller. Doesn’t work with a mullet, which chops off the leg line in the front. It just makes her legs look even shorter because the torso/head is elongated. (From the back it’s fine.)
She should have passed on this dress altogether and let someone like Rosie give it its due.
Not feeling this dress. At all.
For some reason I think of Jersey Shore
LOL
She looks like the bride of Dracula
The styling is terrible! Too matronly!
The dress is great but the styling is so boring and I think this would have been better on someone taller.
Why those heavy shoes? Why that crazy Paula (as in Paula Abdul) updo? She looked like she could be 40.
