Thanks…will do
TOP 5
Karolina K, Rosie H. W., Katherine McPhee, Nina Dobrev and Diane Kruger!!!
Cate Blanchett is the best. Always stunning. I loved her black and her hair and make up ! Gorgeous.
Lot’s of great looks but it was Karolina who was centre stage for me.
I would love to say I’m a fashionista, I do love fashion and see all the celeb looks on this blog. But this showcase might mean I’m not a fashionista at all, maybe my taste is too conservative and common. Let’s just say I dislike all the looks, they look either plain horrible or sleezy (I don’t enjoy seeing too much cleevage hanging out). There were so many beautiful dresses and looks, still you choose these distasful, atrocious looks? Seriously?! I must not know nothing about fashion at all… my idea of fashion is beauty. None of those dresses up there are beautiful. If being a fashion lover means having disgusting taste, then I’m out. Au revoir, fashionistas!
I agree with you mostly. I don’t get how Elizabeth Banks made it on the list with that monstrosity, but I guess it’s all in the eye of the beholder. At least Gwyneth’s side-boob didn’t make it on here, but Dianne Kruger’s is. lol Of the ones here, I like Nina’s look, but I’d love to write-in Ashley Greene’s Donna Karan.
Awwww, Katie, love, you’re taking it a bit too seriously!!
I voted for January Jones. I thought she was head-to-toe perfection, back to her stellar best. Necklace naysayers should have a look at the close ups.
Honourable mentions for Sofia Vergara, Kate Bosworth, Nina Dobrev, Jessica Alba and Emily Blunt. Such beautiful ladies all.
Fashion fails to Gwyneth and Anja – side boob and exposed hip bone do not make for Met magic.
And the biggest prize of all to our dear FC for bringing this to us in her inimitable style once again!
xxx
thanks. Glad you enjoyed it xx
Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe. No Question. No Doubt. She rocked it!!!
Ultimate fav was gwyneth paltrow… She totally blew me away. Another one that caught my eye was emma roberts… Loved both of them…
Why…why can we only pick one? since there are so many gorgeous ladies. Anyway, my vote goes to the stunning Karoline Kurkova
I chose Nina fobrev but I would like to write in vote Christina Ricci.
http://www.redcarpet-fashionawards.com/2012/05/08/christina-ricci-in-thakoon-2012-met-gala/
Wow! The ladies did not disappoint at the gala. So many amazing looks! They really turned it out and showed why the Met Gala is fashion’s Oscars (and fashion-wise why it’s soooo much better than the Oscars).
So sad to see Kirsten Dunst omitted from this list. She has my vote, but I guess I’ll have to choose an alternate.
Dianna Agron! She is missing.
Otherwise, Nina Dobrev.
No Dianna Agron? Easily my best dressed right there
mine too! i would switch renee or bee shaffer for diana!
Ditto!
Definately! Lovely lovely dress, great cut and colour, and her hair and make up were gorgeous too
Yes Dianna Agron! She was wonderful!
Karolina Kurkova 100%.
There were some gorgeous contenders. I actually loved Gwyneth Paltrow, as well, and I’m surprised she’s not here. But nobody. NOBODY. could hold a candle to KK in that gold number. she was like the walking definition of “supermodel goddess”
I had a hard time in choosing who is the best. For me they are all best with their dressed, they looked very gorgeous and fantastic. I really enjoy these post, love it!
My vote goes to Michael Kors for the 2 beautiful gowns he gave us… Too bad they’re not included in your selection, but I guess it was a tough choice.
I actually liked quite a few of the gowns at this year’s Met. Unfortunately, none of my personal favs made the cut and the current winning entry reminds me of Celine Dion – so I’ll be voting Katherine McPhee. Thanks FC for the awesome (& extensive) coverage, another job well done!
It was a three way tie for my favorite: Christina Ricci, Anna Wintour (loved the nod to Schiaparelli), and Carey Mulligan. Since the first two didn’t make the poll, it made my vote easy this time.
No Rihanna in Tom Ford?
In her absence, I cast my vote for Diane Kruger.
Thanks again for your hard work FC!
wow, i cant believe vergara didnt make the cut
I voted for Katherine because she needed my vote. Nina is going to win.
Thanks so much for this 12 pages coverage from MET Gala this year.
And I’m happy with your picked, but i’m missing Jessica Alba and Ashley Greene in the pool.
Where`s Dianna Agron? Her dress deserves to be on this poll.
So many beauty dresses in this amazing night, it`s so hard to choose. I may go with Karolina or Rosie.
Oh, decisions decisions. This will take some deliberation. I also liked Laura Carmichael in Emilia Wickstead, though that outfit desperately called for some serious statement jewelry.
Top 5: 1) Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren 2) Renee Zellweger in Emilio Pucci 3) Linda Fargo (coat) Naeem Khan 4) (tie) Katharine McPhee in Elie Saab/ Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier 5) Claire Danes in J. Mendel
The rest of the Top 12 or so in no order: Leslie Mann, Marion Cottiard, Jessica Stam, Florence Welch, Gisele Bundchen, Laura Carmichael, and Karolina Kurkova (sans turban)
Thanks FC! You do so much work and we gleefully reap the benefits.
you’re welcome x
THANK YOU FC! Amazing work!
Don’t understand how, but you must have been blogging for over 24 hours!
This event is the biggest in my fashion calendar, beating the award season!
(Cannes is at the top as well but that’s several days of fashion heaven)
*can/should you vote more than once…*
Thank Vicky…I’m exhausted but I loved every second
I think you should have included the lady who wore the jewel tone Haider Ackermann number which was splendid and Lea Michelle in her sparkly Diane von Furstenberg dress. Sorry to say your poll doesn’t depict the best dressed of the night, far from it.
Amanda, there are 14 pages of looks featuring more people than most publications.
I had 3 hours sleep over two days. I tried to feature everyone, but it is not possible. After looking at over 2000 pics you tend to miss things when exhausted
Amanda, really? What a mean spirited thing to say
Lauren, Amanda has no idea what goes into making a blog. The fact that she didn’t even share her ‘better list’ proves her comment didn’t need dwelling over.
Dear FC, I’m really Sorry for my mean spirited comment. After all the work you put in your posts and your blog on the whole, I realize I shouldn’t have come down on you so heavily.
I guess where we clash is in our respective taste picks. Some of the ladies that I would select are simpler dressed yet elegant. It’s really not your fault who you picked for your poll from the night, the turnout of outfits this time was very disappointing.
Here is my list:
Nancy O’Dell in Zac Posen.
Constance Jablonski in Haider Ackermann
Lea Michele in Diane von Furstenberg
China Chow in vintage Jean Paul Gaultier.
Karlie Kloss in Jason Wu
Tamara Mellon
Sarah Brown in Antonio Berardi
I can only imagine all the hard work it takes to run a fashion blog with the constant updating and making a living out of it, and quite frankly, I salute you! I visit your blog daily as a form of habit, and I really wouldn’t like to upset you and cause bad vibrations so please forgive me and thank you for your hard work. In your place I would have given up blogging in no time, so I praise you for your dedication and drive.
I really loved Brit Marling’s look from the Met Gala. Had such a soft, princess-y vibe.
I would Replace Diane Kruger with Jessica Stam. Then vote. Not seeing how Diane is in this poll. Baby bump or not is a bad outfit on a beautiful lady
Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe, she look amazing divine.
Catherine, thank you so much for your completely amazing coverage of the Met Gala. You were outstanding once again and I really appreciate your effort as Im sure we all do. I hope you got some rest or will have some now. I also hope you had a great time guest blogging for Net-A-Porter
lots of love, Jess.
Thank u xxx
Ah! No Florence!
No dianna agron? Or Ashley Green here? Or gasp Emma Stone?
The above are some of my favs along with Karolina and Nina D
The Met Gala is such a treat!!
karolina kurkova, no contest.
2.camilla belle
3.solange
4.nina dobrev
5.kate bosworth
seems like every other publication has beyonce as the best dressed!
beyonce? really? I guess there are many different tastes… I love your selection!
I am not super crazy about all the outfits this year, I liked last years better but there are a few standouts! I can’t decide!! It is too hard. Btw Fashion Critic, I am in love with all your favourites atm!! I want each and every one!
Did you feature Karlie Kloss in her pink dress? I can’t find her on your site.
Yes. Model post
Thanks.
FC thanks for the 12 pages of amazing coverage!! I had a great time checking it out
+1
Thank you so much for the cover FC. I was refreshing your site every 2 seconds like a mad person! LOL You’re the best!
My vote goes to my girl Gwyneth Paltrow though
XXXX
BALENCIAGA’S DRESS for KRISTEN STEWART is heinous! it’s a big joke! poor Kristen.
I miss Dianna Agron here!
I voted for Diane Kruger. I was so looking forward to see her at the Met Gala and she didn’t dissapointed me. She looked flawless.
And this is the rest of my Top 10:
2.Katharine Phee
3.Nina Dobrev
4.Claire Danes
5.Ashley Greene
6.January Jones
7.Christina Ricci
8.Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
9.Solange Knowles
10.Emily Blunt
FC I waited for this post to say thank you. I really appreciate your hard work every time you post here but since two days you’re just working on this blog without getting enough sleep. Thank you for this amazing coverage. You truly deserve a best fashion blog award! Now just go rest or do what you want but please go out and enjoy the life outside even if it’s raining in London. I can even understand it when you don’t feature anyone until Friday.
Have a great day xx
where is Dianna Agron? Beyonce? Rihanna? they looked fantastic!
and I forgot Candice Swanepoel!
where is gwynie???
loved rihanna, anja rubik, and jessica alba
Even though I would’ve LOVED to know what you thought about these interesting looks: M-K.Olsen in The Row, Constance Jablonski in Ackerman, Arizona Muse in Erdem, Chanel Iman in Tom Ford, The Clarins girls n Thierry Mugler, Rosario Dawson in Calvin K, Astrid frisbey in Chanel Couture … Hats off for your coverage FC! Fantastic job! Yesterday you got me hooked on your blog all day long! It was a great day for fashion and I really enjoyed the readers’ mobilization for the event
One of my favourites was Bianca Brandolini D’Adda in Dolce and Gabbana – did you see her, FC?
Sofia Vergara , I do not know why she is not on the list
Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe. Hands down. You look at the collage of pictures and she just stands out from the rest! Even for me someone who so hates Rachel Zoe, I couldnt help voting for the truth.
why is everyone wearing dark lipstic, it is heduos , please make it stop
Karolina Kurkova wins no question. I had a few other favorites too. Rooney Mara was my second favorite. I thought others tried to do Givenchy, but she was the only one who wore it so beautifully. I loved Cate Blanchett in my favorite designer of all times. Loved Carey Mulligan so much but wasn’t sure it was enough for the Gala.
Such a fun event! Can’t wait till next year.
AMAZING coverage FC!
Were you impressed with the looks this year? I was a bit disappointed
there were no looks that I loved! Bring on Cannes!
Nope…quite disappointed.
Waiting for Cannes
Glad it’s not just me!
I’ve looked at a couple of other sites that featured the fashions from this event and none come even close to you FC! Love your thoughtful and well written comments
That why I’ve been coming back for years!
Bless you.. It’s comments like this which keep be blogging 18 straight hours during these events.
Truly grateful. Thank u
Ditto! Over the years I’ve had to remove myself from my blog/celeb gossip addiction… but the ONE SITE I still allow myself to check (almost) daily is RCFA. Thank you FC!
thank you. I’m honoured
My favorites were :
1-Carey Mulligan in Prada ( for the exquisite dress)
2-Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren (everything!)
3-Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan
4- Rooney Mara in Givenchy Couture
5-Diane Kruger in Prada
By the way Prada is standing with this new collection : beautiful dresses, jewelry.
What’s with the oohing and aahing over Solange’s just OK look? Nothing special IMHO. I think she gets a lot of attention for just being non-Beyonce or shd I say different from Beyonce. Yet, she gets a lot of her invites, clothes etc because she is Beyonce’s sister. How many DJs were invited to the event? Thought so. My point exactly. And that Rachel Roy dress that Rachel Roy had on adds 20 yrs to her age.
My top five:
1) Diane Kruger in Prada – she was flawless, as always…and I like the bohemian
vibe of it. an original look for the night.
2) Katharine McPhee in Elie Saab
3) Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen
4) Victoria Justice in McQ Alexander McQueen
5) Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren
I was really, really disappointed by Rosie’s Burberry dress. She looks like an old lady. And that hairstyle – no no no!
Even if Carey Mulligan had one of the best looks, it was too much “bling bling” for my eyes; but, nonetheless, her make-up and hair were perfect.
Ioana, try and catch a shot of the back…its breathtaking!
Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe.
Thank you for all your hard work, FC! You did an excellent job.
thank you x
Karolina Kurkova hands down but I loved Dianna Agron too
where is Jessica?????????????????????????
Am I the only one who is not blown away by this year’s Gala? I mean, where are the dramatic gowns and dresses when McQueen hosted the show? Except for Anna Wintour’s lobster dress, I am not impressed with any Prada dress. Oh well, maybe next year Givenchy will host the show.
No…very below par
I was very VERY happy with the looks this year! It is easily the biggest event for anyone who enjoys fashion, as there is a license to go crazy. My pick was Carey Mulligan. i <3 shine.
Karolina, Cate, Carey, Bee, and Nina stood out on this list.
Thanks for caring enough about fashion to spend so many hours bringing it to us!
FC, thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for doing all this! The other night I was studying for my French final but let me tell you I was on your page every second refreshing it! You’re amazingly dedicated to fashion and that’s why this is my favorite blog
<3
My pleasure
Faaaantastic coverage once again FC. Thank you for your work
So I looked through all the pics with my mother, who’s reactions were HILARIOUS, the Met Gala is not for traditional mothers. And the only looks we could agree on were Dianna Agron, Angela Lindvall, Poppy Delevigne, Rosie H-W, Karolina K, and Nina Dobrev. So in this instance I chose Nina
I personally adored Gwyneth, and I had a heart-flutter when I saw Emma Stone but (and I know this is a direct result of reading you for 4 years) I was so upset by the shoes. They just destroyed it. Anywho, as someone doing exams I empathise with your lack of sleep, but thanks again
xx
Lol.. I can imagine her reactions…because my mum thinks fashion is strange too x
Oh no words can describe her reaction to Miuccia Prada “That woman is allowed to dress others??” and poor Mary-Kate “she looks like she’s at the hairdressers wrapped in the cape to protect her”. I need to stop her watching Fashion Police, Joan Rivers is havin a bad effect
My true favourites was Hillary Swank, Emma Roberts and Emma Stone. I miss them on this list!
Great coverage, almost fifteen pages… wow.
Nina Dobrev the best !!!
Nina and Donna Karan are a match made in fashion heaven. Love this!
Nina Dobreb-Absolutely stunning!
Nina all the way. that train! that dress was all about the back. don’t think this photo does it total justice but its a lot to squeeze in there! i also loved clemency posey in nina ricci but i hardly saw it on any sites…
Nina has the hottest back ever! Her whole body is perfection !
Nina Dobrev!!!
One of the best dressed for sure. One of Nina’s best looks for sure.
The only one that blew me away was Diane Kruger. I mean she is the only one that can pull such a hippie dress in the Met Ball. For me Dianna Agron also deserves to be in the poll, she was flawless.
i’m writing in for christina ricci because i just loved her, but i voted for karolina kurkova
thanks FC for all your hard work!
Nina Dobrev all the way. She was the best. But Dianna Agron was really beautiful and she’s not here :$
Awww, I loved Bee Shaffer and Nina Dobrev so much
Nina Dobrev and Donna Karan !!!Cool!!!
FC, thanks for that amazing coverage. You never dissapoint! I go with Nina, her dress was amazing!(sorry for my poor English!)
thank you xx
Hmm I would go with Dianna Agron and Beyonce.
My write in vote haha Beyonce shut it down and Dianna is just a flawless beauty
i am so happy nina dobrev is winning this poll. she is quietly elegant, glamorous and beautiful. the best dressed of the night by far. <3 and i am not a vampire diaries watcher so…i am def going a fair objective vote lol
She’s only winning because all her fan sites linked to the poll, so its not a real representation.
That’s such a pity – the thing I love about this site is it is about the fashion more than the celebrity. Thanks for the great coverage FC, other sites are so boring in comparison because your lovely descriptions make it so much more interesting. Btw did you see your name check in the times? I did squee a little bit in excitement!
No I didn’t see it…the paper or online?
I must digg it out
I saw it in the paper, the times2 section were it covered the Met Ball. It said that people went to established sites such as Red Carpet Fashion Awards, style.com and E! Fashion Police to talk about the fashion while lots more were on twitter doscussing what people wore.
It would probably be online but you have to have a subscription to look at articles.
I voted for Renee Zellweger in Emilio Pucci. I knew my choice wouldn’be very popular, but I had to vote for her, because she hasn’t looked that great and sexy for a long time!
Voted for Rooney, her style is flawless but the list is missing Dianna Agron and Rihanna. Dianna Agron was simply perfection and Rihanna’s Tom Ford dress was icredible sexy, especially the back.
Nina Dobrev-beautiful !
Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan absolute victory!!!
I was disappointed with the Met, most looks are very odd and unflattering.
Amazing coverage as usual, FC! I absolutely love your blog. Keep up the good work.
x
Will do
x
Karolina wins my vote.
Im surprised to see Nina leading in the poles. I thought that she looked like Miss America and not in a good way.
Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan amazing !
The biggest fashion fail is seeing a single Elie Saab here……….
Nina looked gorgeous, to be sure! Not taking anything away from her at all — but PEOPLE — come ON!
THE dress of the night was Karolina Kurkova in the Rachel Zoe number! And KK even co-designed it herself!
It’s a shame that a ton of Nina’s fans flooded the poll, considering they don’t even come here regularly.
Thank you for the great coverage of the met gala! It was great fun reading it. I love that your comments is allways constructive and never too mean. And its also never attacking the person. And it doesnt matter who it is wearing the outfit, everyone gets the same treatment, from anna Wintour to Kardashians.
Thank u x
I’m glad so many of you enjoyed it
I voted for Camilla Belle in this crowd, simply becasue she was sooo beautiful. Karolina Kurkova was of course also stunning but it wasnt the first time I saw someone dressed like an oscar statue, so didnt impress enough. But my personal first would be Sarah Jessica Parker. She looked like she had such a good time in her dress, and it looked supercomfortable! And the matching shoes in the same fabric as the dress was fun.
Nina Dobrev looked gorgeous !!!№ 1 !!!
I voted for Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan. She looked stunning and her dress was perfection.
My favourites were (no order) Ashley Greene, Diana Agron, Nina Dobrev, Katherine McPhee and Camilla Bellle
Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan!Only !
Karolina totally deserved to win this. Oh well. If I had a write in it would have gone to Jessica Stam.
Thanks as always for your ceaseless coverage of everything.
You don’t have a picture of the Norwegian crown princess? She wore Valentino.
Solange Knowles is the best
