Nina Dobrev will no doubt be top of many best dressed lists tonight after donning another stunning Donna Karan gown for the 2012 Met Gala held in New York City.
At this point, Nina needs to work with Donna Karan exclusively because she seems to know what works best when designing a custom look for the young actress.
Her black-and-gold backless Donna Karan Atelier gown which drapes beautifully and has a breathtaking train, was simply accessorized with H.Stern jewels to allow the gown to do all the talking.
I think the word “wow” simply sums things up here.

Nina is swoon-worthy. This is one of Donna’s best creations ever.
I agree.
Oh she’s impeccable, I’m in love!!!
Absolutely stunning dress! I love the effect of the train when viewed from the back. Her makeup and hair compliment this outfit gorgeously. The only I that I don’t like is the single spaghetti strap that is just a tiny bit distracting. Otherwise, Bravo!
I agree about working with Donna Karan more often. She knows how to dress Nina right.
There is not enough words to describe this dress. It’s beyond
That back is whoa. She looks really good. She must be beaming! Definitely BDOTW.
One of the best dressed for sure. One of Nina’s best looks for sure. And one of Donna Karan’s best creations for sure.
Nina definitely knows how to put on a show when she needs to. She looks fantastic!
best dress of the night.
this is what you wear to a gala
FC how are you still posting??? isnt it early morning in London??
Absolutely stunning!A best dressed for the night, soo elegant & the hair & makeup impeccable!
Stunning,
Absolutely one of my best dress tonight.
I had such high expectations to what she was going to wear and when I saw it I couldnt believe it. Because I hated it. I’m so very disappointed I cant even begin explaining why I dislike it. But the design itself, the spaghetti strap and the fit are some of the reasons.
What shocks me the most is that, from what Ive seen so far, Ashley is my favorite. And they are wearing the same designer!
My girls Nina and Emma really let me down tonight.
EPIC. BOTW.
I can’t pinpoint it exactly, but something just never comes together for me with her. It’s always a little too safe and perfect, leaving no real room for me to get a sense of what her style actually is. It’s not that she ever really looks bad, but that I don’t feel she’s actually bringing anything to these looks.
Her and Karolina, absolutely the best dressed. As this was more risky and dramatic, I’ve gotta say this is my favorite of the two, although it was as hard a choice as a choice can … err… be hard.
She looks like she’s coming out of a pool of liquid gold and onyx with that dress. Absolutely stunning!
DITTO! Breathtaking!
this dress flatters her figure. i like it, don’t love it.
CC
I’m not wowed because we see a lot of dresses like that on the red carpet but I think Donna really outdid herself for that night. Nina looks good
This is beautiful!
I don’t know if I like it… It’s pretty, but so “deja vu”. I was expecting more.
Yay, I love it
I do love the train but something looks a bit awkward about it in the first picture.
Wow, just one word… but I wonder how she could go to the toilette with this dress.
WOW. Best dressed of the night, by far!
Nina is the most beautiful!
In a word: Epic. I’m in love.
Definitely one of the best dressed ladies last night. She looked stunning
Nina and Donna Karan are a match made in fashion heaven. Love this!
Donna Karan really knows how to make beautiful gowns! Wow
Ditto.
I’m going to be one of the few that disagrees; not because I think the dress doesn’t fit her like a glove, or that her hair and makeup isn’t on-point, but because I really don’t like the print. XP
SUPER!!!!
Sorry,but no..
Outstanding!! Nina is a knock out! The dress and her styling is all perfect!! I love long trains
Like most of Nina’s looks, INCREDIBLY dated. She looks like the prom queen in Missouri in 1997.
I LOVE IT. Imo, Donna Karan was able to mix showstopping-mainstream with WOW COUTURE. I mean, who the hell couldve thought of those details and how strategically placed they are, I mean any other designer couldve just sprinkled that all over but I love the way she did it. A +
WOW!!! Just WOW!!! This is how you go to the MET Gala!!! Kicking everybody asses!!! Sorry for the expression!!! hihihi!!! The best of the night!!!
Nina+Donna Karen=perfection
This is lovely, and at another event it would be a winner, but it is a little drab for this venue this year.
I really really wan tto love it, but then Ikepe remembering her age, and it sort of ruisn it for me. I wish that she still looked youthful, but she doesn’t to me, at all.
the back of this dress is exceptional. she looks incredible, def one of the best of the night!
my favorite of the MET! BDOTW!
Of course it’s her second best look to date (first one was the red dress from DK!!!) she looks AMAZING
Easily the best look of the night. I literally gasped and dropped my jaw looking at her here. BDOTW contender for sure!
“WOW” is correct. I love her, I love this dress. I agree, they need to just keep this fashion relationship going.
Its perfectly shocking without being overdone.
The train is everything!!! I can’t express how much I love this!
The gown is just gorgeous, but I wish Nina had opted for a different hairdo, because this one slighty ages her, in my opinion.
I would love this with some modifications–the train is splendid for sure and the dress has the definite drama needed for the event, but I don’t like the single spaghetti strap or the backless effect. I would have preferred a symmetrical neckline. She does look beautiful, though.
OH MY GOSH, amazing! I don’t know what else to say. This is one of my favorites of the night.
I guess Im the odd one out, because I really dont care for this. The train is too long and the spaghetti strap is awful. Combined with the prom hair and the Miss America posing, no thank you.
It looks silver on my screen. In any case, I’m amazed by how much I dislike this. I always dislike black and shiny gold/silver; the combo always brings up 70s disco/ Studio 54 images that I can’t shake. I don’t like the haphazard print. I don’t like the spaghetti strap on one side vs the netted appearance on the other shoulder. Nope, there’s not a thing I like here. Since I am one of the very few to dislike this, I realize I could be suffering from an extreme lapse of judgement, and I’m willing to accept this. She’s a beautiful woman nonetheless and this dress doesn’t diminish that.
sexy without being trashy. au la la! completely age appropriate. she is beautiful!
Just perfect ♥
