Dita von Teese made sure all eyes were on her when she hit the red carpet on Friday evening to attend the 2012 Duftstars Awards at Tempodrom in Berlin, Germany.
The burlesque star has never been afraid of baring some skin, so this Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2002 Couture gown should come as no surprise to anyone.
Her skin-baring dark-brown peek-a-boo gown with knots and twisted details was paired with long black leather opera gloves and styled with her signature retro waves and a dark red lip colour.
Usually I’m a fan of whatever Dita wears, but I don’t like this colour on her.
Had this dress been in her favoured black, I think it would’ve worked better for me, but to be honest I’m not that crazy about the gown to begin with.

Good God my mom would have buried me alive in this dress.
LOL I know, right? I think this look is SUPER tacky and vampy…nothing to like about it for me.
it’s all to dark, shdve choosen diff colore.she is carrying it off, even if it is too baring,it’s not tacky.not many cld do that.
This look should have stayed in 2002…..
Really bad.
Ditto.
A missed opportunity, you should have said “Dita” lol
Not a fan of this look at all.
The dress looks much better on Noémie Lenoir.
I can’t really decide – whether I love the gown or hate it.
I like the addition of gloves however. I’ll probably never understand why nobody pairs opera-length gloves with gowns these days.
Wow. First of all what are those gloves? They look so ugly.
And secondly I’m not a fan of whatever Dita wears, because her style is always the same. This gown is no exception. Actually I don’t like this gown at all, it’s not what I understand under Couture.
It’s too dark and gothic for my taste.
I actually think the dress is stunning. I would raise my hand for this look to be BDOTW if: the gown was in a stunning sapphire blue, the opera gloves were gone, a less Gothic lipcolor and she did something new with her hair (that ain’t gonna happen folks).
I always hate brown. It will never stop being the color of poop for me- gross and not a red carpet color.
I think the issue is her makeup. Had she chosen a saturated lip color as well as jewel tone eyeshadow she would’ve looked less dead. the dress is gorgeous though!
+1
Yes, I agree with you. Another lip color and this look could be BDOTW.
The gown is gorgeous (and Dita looks incredible) but the color is, well, off. Those gloves need to be burned. Gloves always looks so costumey to me. And I agree with @Riley. The makeup is far too dark for this look.
It’s not ugly or pretty. I am in the middle about this dress..
Talk about a fit body though. Yeesh
dita looks amazing to me here. bdotw contender
It’s quite surprising – On paper I would’ve said that should work on Ditta but in actuality it doesn’t – I think the faded colour in the picture is better than the darker actual colour and it just seems a bit tacky off runway – I don’t know, as much as I loved her wearing vintage JPG last year (that wonderful black dress) I have to say this doesn’t work as well
I think I’m Dita’s #2 fan (right behind you, FC) and I’m equally disappointed in this gown. Dita rarely gets it wrong, but when she does, it’s bad, and this is very bad.
I like the dress but a different colour would have been better and the gloves are terrible. I also don’t like her makeup, she looks so washed out.
I agree about the gloves and the make-up. However, I don’t mind the colour of the dress. I think this dress is stunning and Dita is one of the few women who can pull off these dresses – like the other black dress from the same collection.
