2012 Met Gala: Who’s Taking Who?

The 2012 Met Gala, i.e. the night of 1000 dresses, takes place later this evening.

This year the work of Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada will be celebrated. So far the only people confirmed to be attending as a guest of Prada are Carey Mulligan and Gwyneth Paltrow.

If her Venice Film Festival Prada gown is anything to go by, we should be in for a treat.

For the first time ever, the Met Museum and Vogue will be hosting a red carpet live from 6:30-8:30 pm (EDT) on Vogue.com, MetMuseum.org, and Amazon.com.

This year I will be guest blogging for Net-A-Porter.com, which is very exciting for me as they have never had a guest blogger take over their Twitter handle.

Here is a list of the already-confirmed designers and their guests.

UPDATE: Carolina Herrera will dress Dianna Agron and Julianne Hough.

Chanel will dress Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Poppy Delevingne, Sigrid Agren and Stella Tennant.

More updates as they come in.

I don’t believe he has ever attended, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be represented tonight

I was shocked Lily Collins is going to be Valentino’s designer’s date. I can’t shake the fact that she is Phil Collin’s daughter. I find it annoying the fashion world clings on to rich girls with/without famous family when they haven’t really done anything.

But I am sure she will look amazing.

Rooney Mara should be wearing Givenchy and the Givenchy designer’s date.

Kristen Stewart shouldn’t align herself with Balenciaga. The spirit of Proenza Schouler runs in her veins. Does the Balenciaga/Stewart tie have more to do with her stylist than Kristen?

Because Kristen has looked her best in Proenza Schouler- not Balenciaga, who she has only worn twice.

I’m so excited! I hope I’ll be alive enough to watch the live stream even though I’m in Prague. Can’t wait to see Donna Karan’s Ashley Greene and Nina Dobrev, they have both looked gorgeous in Donna Karan gowns.

Btw, model Anne V said on twitter yesterday that she’s also attending. She didn’t say who she’s gonna wear, although I think it probably is Jean Paul Gaultier.

I hope Dolce and Gabbana will put Scarlett in a major sexy gown. Please don’t let her pick the outfit herself

I’m not really excited about anyone so far except Gwyneth Paltrow and Jessica Chastain. Gisele is also going. And I’m 99% sure Sarah Burton will dress Jessica Chastain.

Summer Fashion Month has begun. Starts w/ the Met Gala, then into Resort collections being shown, then Cannes Film Festival. This will be a fashion-packed month.

As for who I am excited about…I can’t wait to see Ashley Greene and Nina Dobrev in their Donna Karan gowns. I loved Ashley in her gown last year and Nina from the Emmy’s will be forever engrained into my memory. I am excited about who will surprise us and show up (Diane Kruger and Zoe Saldana aren’t on this list, so who knows what they might wear if they show up)

FC are you in New York or still in London? Will this be a late night for you or will your adrenaline be pumping from all the fashion?

Thanks for all your coverage and hard work!

I am surprised by some of the choice:
First Renee Zwelleger with Pucci and second Leighton Meester with Marchesa. I am excited about Joan Smalls & Balmain. I hope some designers find people to dress, especially when some of them already got like 4 people
