Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge In Reiss – The Treehouse Children’s Hospice Opening

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge was in Ipswich, England, today to officially open The Treehouse Children’s Hospice.

She was also there to make her first public speech, so she made sure she’d dressed accordingly wearing a chic Reiss cobalt-blue, double-breasted coat-dress.

The dress was accented with a thick black belt with a matching clutch and pumps.

Don’t waste your time looking for this dress on Reiss.com, because it is from their Fall 2008 collection.

An interesting fact about this dress is that it was previously worn by her mother to Ascot back in 2010.

Those Middleton women sure know how to recycle dresses whilst keeping the look fresh and new.

I love that she recycles looks! FAB as always and I’m thinking a BDOTW contender! I love the vibrant color :)

I love the color, the black accessories are boring but I understand why.

On the other hand the dress and styling aren’t so flattering because they highlight how rail thin she is…

    • Sanette March 19, 2012 at 14:01 #

Exactly, it’s just hanging on her.

she lost a bit of weight for the wedding but i thought she would of gained some back by now.

but shes not that skinny and still healthy looking.

the colour is perfect on her but i dont like the actual design of the dress.

I wish she would expand her footwear repertoire. I don’t mean outlandish, just pumps in colours other black or nude.

This dress looks cheap to me, the belt is awful and why would she wear something her mother wore 2 years ago? I’m all for her not being frivolous and wasteful but either she is dressing 25 years older than she should, or her mother is dressing 25 years younger…. (I do like the colour though).

    • Agathe March 19, 2012 at 15:06 #

I totally agree, it looks very cheap (especially the belt and bracelet) and the fit is terrible on her thin frame…

      • Manel March 19, 2012 at 15:34 #

The bracelet is from EACH the hospice that she is their patron.

I love that colour! Finally something vibrant!

  8. Joy March 19, 2012 at 14:48 #

Hate to say it…but her mom wore it better!

    • Alina March 19, 2012 at 17:34 #

      Yep, you’re right.

  9. dee March 19, 2012 at 14:57 #

Wish she wore other her accessories in another color besides black.

Love the colour, hate the fit.
Love the hair, hate the make-up (which happens 99% of the times I see her).

Bonus points for matching her dress to her engagement ring, though. :-D

  12. Christine March 19, 2012 at 15:58 #

I wish she can wear better shoes. The same black is getting old.

But, I love how the dress fits her perfectly.

  13. Shaina March 19, 2012 at 16:36 #

I love the color although the belt is too thick for my liking. Everything else is fine.

  14. Emi March 19, 2012 at 17:10 #

The color of the dress is one of my favorite. I understand the quite conservative outfit but considering the way the dress is buttoned I don’t like the belt. I read lots of comments about how thin she is, and I actually think she’s very thin but she looks great, she has a very healthy face and she looks very happy.

  15. Tina March 19, 2012 at 18:00 #

I agree that the dress is hanging too much on her thin frame. Color is grat, but otherwise this is not her best effort.

  16. molly March 19, 2012 at 18:52 #

You can tell that this is her mothers dress. Horrid fit. She took in a lot of her clothes from before she lost all that weight, so why wouldnt she do the same with this?

  17. Ana March 19, 2012 at 19:08 #

    Boring as always.

  18. Rebecca Z March 19, 2012 at 20:04 #

Great color. Boring dress. Her hair is divine–beautiful and healthy, why would you mess with it?

  19. Sophie March 19, 2012 at 20:59 #

Beautiful colour indeed – but the style is slightly dated – am suprised it is only 2008…..This is NOT a contender for BDOTW

  20. Sharon March 20, 2012 at 00:45 #

I know I’m in the minority here, but I think she’s just beautiful. I wish I had hair like hers and could wear clothes as well. If FC hadn’t mentioned it, I for one wouldn’t have known it was a recycled dress. It must be difficult to pick clothing to please herself, the Royal family and all of us.

  21. Jess2 March 20, 2012 at 12:25 #

She looks lovely in that colour and the dress is very nice. I love that Kate ‘recycled’ the dress. I don’t have a problem with someone wearing something twice or in this case sharing an outfit (unless its Anna Wintour in another hideous outfit) because gorgeous clothes should be shown off and enjoyed. The fit could be better though.

  22. Amy March 21, 2012 at 22:06 #

so glad she tried color but this is bad. It’s okay to borrow your mother clothes but you have to make them fit you and here Kate failed to do that. The dress is just hanging on her. Her mum looks way better in the dress
