After a flying visit to New York to take in a few shows during Fashion Week, Tolula Adeyemi returned home to attend one of London’s most fashionable nights, the 2012 Elle Style Awards.
The British model and actress wore a Michael van der Ham Spring 2012 dress.
Dutch-born, London-based Michael van der Ham is London’s hottest new talent. So hot that Net-A-Porter.com recently added his Spring 2012 collection to the roster.
This silk-satin print gown beautifully encapsulates his signature look of clashing prints.
Without the sheer runway top, we can clearly see that the halter dress has one sleeve with a cold shoulder.
Wearing her hair up in a braided style, Tolula accessorized with a Milli Millu clutch, a Rachel Galley bracelet, Mawi cuff and ring plus Made rings and earrings.
Do you think this look is better on or off the runway?

The sleeve is neither smart nor attractive, only disruptive! That said, I do prefer it without the sheer top over it.
Totally agree. It looks like it was just randomly added for no reason. Other than that, the dress is OK…I’m not really sold on the print.
On the runway! I think the sheer top gives the dress more edge!
I love Tolula in this and think she looks better than the runway model – really like this so much!

yes
She works with it! But it could definitely use a colorful skinny belt.
I love the sheer top over the dress it gives it a breezy springtime look and adds detail to the shirt that draws your attention to it. That being said, it does look great on her for a red carpet dress, and I think the sleeve creates interest, I’m just not sure I agree with the choice of hair style.
I’m not a fan of the sheer top over the dress. It just looks messy and accidental to me. Having said that, I’m also not fond that that single sleeve – I think the dress would be perfect just as a halter.
Totally better on Tolula. There’s more structure without the runway top and her hair style adds flair to the outfit. Love.
+1, ITA.

I love Toula’s look and I prefer it without the sheer top. The sleeve seems a bit out of place but the overall dress is still fab.
I prefer the look on Tolula – it looks more like an evening outfit without the sheer top.
way better off the runway
The dress is definitly better without the sheer top. Now if we could just cut out that single sleeve…
I like the runway clutch better, though. It’s more interesting.
On Tolula, she is rocking it! I love all the accessories the whole look is amazing!
The sleeve gives the outfit edge and stands out from the sugar coated gloss, playing it safe on the red carpet!
love this dress but wish the clutch is a different colour, its missing something… some colour perhpas
Tribal queen.
This look is so much better off the runway, Tolula looks beautiful
I much prefer Tolula’s version of the dress, than the runway version. I also really like this sleeve, it makes the dress more interesting.
