Natalie Portman posed for photographers in the press room at the 2012 SAG Awards this evening wearing a Giambattista Valli Spring 2012 Couture gown, which is already our second look from this collection which was presented last Monday.
Whilst her burgundy strapless silk-chiffon gown with a bow detail on the bust is very elegant, she fails to breathe any life into it.
Even with the Harry Winston jewels and Judith Leiber glittering clutch, the whole look feels quite lifeless.

Who Was Your Best Dressed At The amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala?

I adore this dress on the runway and Natalie looks lovely but something is missing. Perhaps it is just as you say and Natalie isn’t bringing anything to it because she has the clutch and the accessories but it still feels unfinsihed. Perhaps a thin belt would have added some drama or a bold lipstick??
She needed to find her inner Black swan for this look. She looks like one stiff ballerina. Maybe less ballerina-esque hairstyle would`ve helped.
I think it has something to do with the lifeless expression on her face – her pose isn’t the most inspiring either. But the dress is gorgeous!
+1. Stunning dress.
Boring.
She looks AMAZING!!!…
the whole look feels wilted, just like the flower on the front of the dress.
Natalie has always struck me as a timeless and elegant beauty, and this dress personifies that. It is elegant, timeless and a classic. Not every actress has to wear cutting-edge fashion all the time.
+1
She looks deviiiiiine!
Just ‘blah’… I just don’t feel it despite the dress being beautiful and all. Fail to me!
This dress is completely lifeless on her. Someone else could have rocked this at the Oscars. What a waste of couture!
Yeah, I agree. As lovely and talented as Portman is, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her ‘rock’ anything outside of the big screen. She’s one of those actresses who can light up a screen when she’s playing a part, but then when it comes to her in real life, it’s all very underwhelming.
The dress is georgeous, but I agree it fails to look great on Natalie, she is just kinda.. boring. How can she be the current Oscar winner and not “play a part” while on these ceremonies?
The model simply rocks it!
I actually love this look from head to toe. I think she looks better than the runway model, and her hair and make-up are flawless. It’s too bad we didn’t see it on the actual red carpet.
+1.
I think she looks lovely. I much prefer this to her Lanvin at the GG’s which looked stiff and paegenty.
She looks beautiful and the gown suits her perfectly but there’s something missing, she’s not feeling it.
She looks really uncomfortable and stiff, so perhaps it’s a little tight. She also looks like she’s about to cry. The dress is gorgeous, and was a good theoretical pick for her, given that this is her colour. I also cant help but wonder if gold accessories would be better to suit her warm complexion and the dress colour.
I love Natalie Portman and I like most of her dresses. Even if they’re not as stunning as others. She makes me looking good. But this is very blah. This color is just not pretty.
obsessed with this look, but for some reason, she just never impresses me..
I think she looks better here than she has all season. I love this gown.
I loved this on the run away, to looks amazing in motion. Natalie looks lovely but the dress does lose all its spark
It’s a gorgeous dress!
