Kering’s Women In Motion Dinner Was A Strong Showcase For Demna’s Gucci
Kering’s Women in Motion dinner, tied to the group’s programme spotlighting women in cinema and the arts both in front of and behind the camera, took place during the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, with Salma Hayek Pinault, Demi Moore, Georgina Rodriguez, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Sophie Thatcher, Tao Okamoto, Annabelle Wallis, Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Pope all dressed in Demna’s Gucci.

First Lady Energy
If you ask me what keeps me going during the 12 days of the Cannes Film Festival, it isn’t caffeine, it’s moments like this.
As you know, Salma Hayek is my girl, and seeing her shine in this custom Gucci one-shoulder white feathered column gown warmed my soul like you would not believe. It’s giving custom, just look at how perfectly it moulds to her body. It’s giving high glamour, which is exactly what I want from her on every red carpet. And most importantly, it’s giving First Lady of Kering. She is the most important woman in this room, and this look carries that presence effortlessly. Finally, we have a moment that lives up to those iconic Gucci Première days. And while we are on the subject, Demna needs to bring that line back immediately.

Confusing Jewellery
As much as I love Demi Moore’s custom Gucci purple croc-embossed leather gown, that Boucheron Col necklace from the Histoire de Style, The Power of Couture High Jewelry collection feels completely at odds with the dress. The gown says sleek, sharp, high-gloss glamour, while the necklace belongs to something far more ornate and regal. For me, they are headed to two entirely different events.

Real Housewives Of Cannes
Georgina Rodriguez was fully committing to the Kim Kardashian cosplay with this platinum blonde wig. And there is something about the Gucci teal silk shirt, black trousers, black Horsebit pumps and fur stole combination that feels less Cannes Film Festival and more Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the early years. I’m getting Lisa Vanderpump with a side of Kyle Richards. However, her stylist Hugo Latorre Ruiz shared on Instagram that the inspo was actually Madonna at the 1995 MTV Video Music Awards wearing Gucci by Tom Ford. Chopard jewels completed her look.

Generation Gucci
I wasn’t sure if Daisy Edgar-Jones was still Team Gucci, but this look confirms it. Her white Generation Gucci ensemble is clean and elegant, and I love the ease of it, despite the blazer reading as a slightly different shade of white from the rest of the look. Thankfully, the sharp tailoring keeps the tonal mismatch from becoming distracting. Boucheron jewels completed her look.

Blood Red Drama
Sophie Thatcher, who is in Cannes promoting her new film Her Private Hell, wore a Gucci off-the-shoulder ruby red sequinned gown which feels pitch-perfect for a blood-soaked psychological thriller. The liquid shine of the fabric combined with the sculpted neckline gave this a dark old-Hollywood mood that suited her beautifully.

Subtle Shimmer
Freshly shaven Sebastian Stan wore a custom Gucci black pinstripe iridescent double-breasted suit that may require a zoom-in to fully appreciate the shimmering finish woven through the fabric. From afar it reads classic, but up close there is far more texture and depth happening within the tailoring.

After-Dark Tailoring
Jeremy Pope was also glistening in a Gucci dark brown glitter-jacquard double-breasted suit. The turtleneck added to the cool, relaxed mood, while the Gucci Giovanni black leather loafers kept the styling sleek.

Maternity Minimalism
Mum-to-be Tao Okamoto wore a Generation Gucci black embroidered sleeveless gown which embraced simplicity in the best way. The soft sparkle and clean silhouette allowed her pregnancy glow to remain the focus.

Crystal Curve
Annabelle Wallis also showcased her maternity style in a Generation Gucci one-shoulder crystal-embroidered gown styled with Gucci black leather boots. The boots gave the embellished dress a tougher finish, stopping the look from feeling too expected for Cannes.
